Car rocks after applying hand brake

That sounds normal for parking on an incline with parking brake engaged (regardless of the shifter position). The rear suspension will move up (when parking uphill) or down (when parking downhill) caused by the effect of leverage in the suspension geometry. The amount of movement depends also on how stiff the springs are, but the leverage is the same regardless.

In my own practice of parking an automatic vehicle as follows:

1. Engage service brake and hold
2. Shift to Neutral
3. Engage parking brake
4. Release service brake
5. Shift to Park

Number 2 and 3 can be reversed for the same result.
