Rear subframe Bushing recommendation

Group: I have a 2010 370z Nismo and am replacing the rear subframe. I purchased a used subframe and think I need to put bushings in it before the dealer

Default Rear subframe Bushing recommendation

Group:

I have a 2010 370z Nismo and am replacing the rear subframe. I purchased a used subframe and think I need to put bushings in it before the dealer will install it.

What bushings (material, manufacturer, links?) would you recommend. I do not want to make the car any stiffer. Stock ride is fine.

Dealer said my differencial bushing burst and quoted a new subframe since mine is bent. I have the subframe now and presume I must purchase the bushings and have a local shop install them.

Where do the bushings go. Do I need one for a bolt that holds the differencial, and then 4 bushings at four mounting points?

Are you sure your subframe is bent? It's common for the dealer to recommend a new subframe for a burst diff bushing...

Dealer told me mine wasnt bent but its changed out of caution

to your question, whiteline bushings are the most quoted as aftermarket install

Whiteline poly bushings are working fine for me ... though in hindsight I wish I had gone with solid bushings.

Why are you replacing your subframe? If your diff bushing is shot, there's no need to touch the subframe - it's just a way for the dealer to line their pockets by unnecessarily charging you for a $900 part and $1600 in labor for something that shouldn't cost you more than $300-400 total.

Z1 Motorsports has you covered.

They have aftermarket urethane bushings available, and even aluminum bushings for the rear differential.

Yes it is bent. I took my replacement subframe, pictured in my original post, to an autobody shop and they said the bushings are already in it!

Since you already have the used sub frame out I would have an after market bushing installed. These bushings are liquid filled and are known to fail. A sure sign is liquid seeping onto your exhaust. Peps refer this to "puking". Who knows how long the used one will last you. It would suck to have it fail soon after the install. I had the energy rear diff bushing kit installed on mine. It doesn't pop, make noises or make the ride stiffer.

Ouch. But like Raidernation says, the OEM bushing is garbage and will just fail on you. Now is the perfect opportunity to upgrade to aftermarket (sounds like you want poly) bushings.

Bent how?? If you bent your subframe the car would be a total loss! The control arms, rear knuckle, spring buckets etc would all have snapped off long before the subframe would bend in an accident.

The dealers don't replace the bushing because they technically have no way to take it out per Nissan therefore they have to replace your entire subframe. If you buy a used subframe just because the bushing is blown it'll just blow again and be completely pointless for doing it all to begin with. Just install SPL solid in your oem and call it a day.

Just purchased whiteline poly bushings. Attached are some pics of my subframe in the car. Salvage yard just drilled another hole, used a non-standard camber bolt and put in an adjustable rear lower link to get it aligned.

I want to take it to the track and do not want a rear right suspension failure, so I am trying to rebuild it correctly.

The hit to the right rear put a kink in the gas filler tube. It takes forever to gas up the Z ...slow fill due to kink. Thats what started all this. Dealer said you need to drop the subframe to replace the filler tube, and dealer noticed the burst bushing, monkey rigged subframe and recommended I do the subframe if I was going to tear into it anyway for the filler tube.

One thing leads to another!
