You don't need to resurface rotors when you change pads but some people recommend changing your rotors when you change your pad.

Personally I've always felt that a proper bedding will get rid of previous pad deposits. 4 or 5 panic stops from 80mph outta do it. Then you need to make sure you don't completely stop and rest on the brakes while the rotors are still smoking or you're likely to melt the pads to the rotor, that's typically what causes the vibration many attribute to a warped rotor.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm leaning towards getting the following:

Project Mu Brake Pads NS400 -Rear- Base Pkg. Nissan 370Z 2009-15
(from Forged Performace)

Would there be any problems if I only upgrade the rear brake pads and keep the fronts stock (they are still at 6mm, only stock rears went bad after track).

It would be best to change both front and rear pads to maintain brake balance. Stock pads and the pads you want have different friction coefficients. The Mu pads have more bite. Could up-set things.
