Default Dash kit need help

My wife bought me a kenwood double din with GPS. The 590hd. She bought all the wires etc but the guy also sold her the dash kit as he said we would need it to install the stereo. He charged 94 dollars for just the dash kit. All the other stuff was priced fine. My question is do I even need the dash kit? Crutch shows the 590 hd as fitting but I can't tell for sure as they do provide a dash kit. If I need one I could order it online for 30 dollars. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I installed a Kenwood DDX790 and did not use the dash kit and actually the dash kit they sent did not line up up with the existing screw locations in the dash. I have pictures of the DDX 790 installed in my gallery.

I have installed that same HU in ours and didn't use the Kit at all, I had it in my system for about a week. I then removed it as I was not happy with the interface entirely and switched over to the Pioneer which is in ours now. It fits just fine. The kit eliminates about a 1 - 2 mm gap which will be there w/o it, but for me, it's all dark and it's hard to even see the gap.
