Question 2013 w/ Bose - Bluetooth streaming?

Greets!

I'm looking to buy a 2013 Nismo w/ the Bose Audio package. From what I can see on Nissan's website, all signs point to the nav system (not available on the Nismo) being the only thing that supports streaming audio via Bluetooth. However, the Bose Audio package has Bluetooth phone support. Any ideas whether it is possible to do streaming audio with the Bose Audio package? Or is it only possible with the nav package?

If it is not possible with the Bose audio package, does anyone have any suggestions as to what the best way would be to get audio from my phone in to the stereo? Aux in? Some sort of alternative Bluetooth adapter? Something else?

Lemme know what you guys think. Thanks for the input!

I believe only the nav can do BT streaming and the regular bose system can not.

My recommendation, save your cash and get a aftermarket head unit that can do it. Once you go nav you can not change it!

What to know about Bose

Thanks for the info!

I definitely have no interest in the Nav unit. If it means not having bluetooth streaming, then so be it. I was planning to get the Bose system in order to get Homelink and phone Bluetooth, primarily. Why Homelink is part of the Bluetooth package boggles me.

I noticed your Bose info in your sig. A good read. I've liked what I've heard of the Bose system so far and my RX8 still has its "premium sound" Bose package, which was great except for lacking a sub. Would you have any recommendations on a head unit that'd work well with the remainder of the Bose system?

A bose system in a RX8 is going to be different from the one in the z, a lot of people have said the z's bose system has been the worst and some say it is pretty good.

Any head unit with 4 volt pre outs would be compatible with the bose system. However any set of budget speakers and a head unit will blow the bose system out of the water.

I'm by no means a car audio expert.. but the Bose package I tested out at the dealer sounds significantly better than the Bose "premium sound" package that I got from the dealer in my RX8.

That said.. can any of you recommend a good head unit that'd work well with the rest of the Bose system in the Z?

Buy a blackberry gateway bluetooth adapter. Compatible with all phones and devices. It comes with a car adapter for power and aux Jack cable. I hid mine under the passenger side panel (what your passengers left leg rests against.) Plug it into the power plug that is there and the cable into the aux Jack. The entire device can be hidden except for about 5 inches of aux cable which will run off to the right then be buried behind that panel. They are discontinued but can be found on ebay.

A little pricey but can be gotten for 70.00 if patient. I have one on my home system too. Works great, and when your phone rings the music stops and the car bluetooth kicks on. When you hang up the music resumes. There are other brands that are cheaper, can't say how well they would work though.

Interesting thought, thanks for the tip. I have something similar for my RX8. Will look in to that.
