For a very reasonable price; JVC Mobile Entertainment \ KW-AV70BT 2-DIN AV Receiver - KW-AV70BT \ Introduction

For the cream of the crop; AVH-P8400BH - 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 7" Widescreen Touch Panel Display, Advanced App Mode, Built-In Bluetooth®, and HD Radio™ Tuner | Pioneer Electronics USA

These two are with out Navigation, so obviously you'd be paying about 3 or 4 bills more that precious little upgrade.

which one would you suggest in replacing the bose headunit? Why is the pioneer better than the JVC?

I recommend the Clarion CX501. Looks very similar to OEM but has all the features. Sounds great with stock speakers too!

I was going to buy a Pioneer 940BT but I always loved the looks of the 920BT. I actually had some time to install the headunit.

And this is how it turned out:

Nice, I thinking about going to get that one too but I wanted the physical buttons. That's the new one for this year. Very nice DmHenderson

By brother has that one installed in his truck now.. then again he gets a new AVIC-Z every year (he is a Pioneer wholesaler).

So my goal was to make the sound system as invisible as possible aside from the head unit:

Alpine 4 channel amp hidden under passenger seat.

Secret custom sub enclosure we built. We removed the spare and used the bolt mount to secure the sub enclosure which can be covered/uncovered as needed. It's a lil' guy. Just enough to fill out the sound.

Also installed an infinity kappa system in the doors + tweeters (because I hated the stock speakers). Those tweeters are a pain in the butt to work on by the way. For some reason, you can't fit 6x9s in the doors which made me sad.

yeah the lack of physical buttons drove me crazy until I got the SWS steering wheel module installed. The first one I got was defective out of the box.

Getting used to it now and it's definitely a much slicker UI than the X90BT that I had in my '09
