Default pioneer z130bt probs

hi all, i have an issue with my newly installed z130bt that i hope you could help me with, specifically as it pertains to my iPhone4. when it's connected and i'm listening to mp3's and/or watching movies, i'm only getting audio from the left speakers. i fiddled with the fade/balance and when i move it all the way to the right there's no sound at all. my best guess (and hope) is that the installer goofed somehow and left the connector loose or something in the back of the unit. either that or the cord itself is faulty. if thats the case i can either replace the cord or firmly connect the cord and fix the problem, but if it's not that i'm afraid i may have to purchase another head unit. as an aside, i can play DVDs and listen to HD radio and i get perfect audio from both left and right speakers, so i'm pretty i can rule out faulty speaker connections. anyone else have this problem with this model, or even an older such as the z120bt etc.? i have a 2010 370 nismo, thanks in advance for your time.

i appreciate the reply, thank you. i did test it with BT and both speakers work fine when doing so. not that it matters but making phone calls also works well enough, at least outgoing calls. so... i'm sitting here with a unit that works well with BT, DVDs, and FM Tuner, but breaks audio wise when listening via my iphone. tomorrow i will borrow my buddies iPod, but i expect nothing will change. regarding the USB interface iPod cable, i went to BB today and bought the CD-IU51V USB interface cable and i still get the same problem, i.e. no right speaker audio when playing music and watching video via the iphone. i'm bringing the car back to the shop tomorrow, hopefully i can stick around and and watch them re-insert the cord into the back of the unit so i can run tests while they're doing so. thanks again for your time,

Pioneer ipod cords "if that is what you are talking about when you say cord" are notorious for failing. Might want to try a new one.

Correction: I see you already tried a new cord. You might want to take it back to your installer at this oint or call pioneer.

i referenced 2 cords so i can understand the confusion, sorrry. let me be clear. the cord that i'm going to say is faulty is the 6 foot one that attaches to the back of the pioneer nav unit. at the other end of this cord is a mini jack and USB connector that the CD-IU51V USB interface cable i bought at BB plugs into. just for the hell of it i also bought the CD-IU50V cable and still get the same problem. as an aside, the CD-IU50V is like $40 cheaper than the CD-IU51V that pioneer claims you must use with the new z1310bt, yet works just as well. anyway, i've ordered a new USB mini jack cord (the 6 foot one) from ebay and will see if that changes anything. i really like the interface on this unit so i'm not going to bash it just yet, it does suck having audio out of one speaker though. i'll update once i find out more, thanks

so for posterity's sake i have to report that the problem was indeed the USB interface cable that came with the unit - what bigaudiofamat suggested i think. installed one i got off ebay and audio now thankfully comes from both speakers. with this business taken care of i just have to decide what get regarding front speakers/sub/amp. anyone have any suggestions? i'm looking to spend between 1500-2000, no rears. thanks

Glad it worked out. Yes those cables on the pioneers are known to go back so you might want to keep a few around.

there are a few different cables for pioneers HU, you prob just mistakenly got the wrong one... I have had my cable for a year with no issues at all...

bigaudio seems to love to talk down on pioneer, not sure what his gripe is with them but I love my HU more so than any kenwood I have played with. Kenwoods interface just seems like its from the 90's ... all though I think there newest units are a bit more "modern"

Even people suck as speedfreak who is a friend of mine admits of the crappy ipod cables for pioneer. I just state facts not accusations. Forgive me if you took offense to my comments.

Default Same exact Problem.

I am in the process of getting Pioneer to send me another 6ft. usb mini cable under warranty. I am concerned that this cable might be defective also. You stated that you picked up yours on ebay. Under what listing did you find one? Also, what did it cost you to have your installer put in the new cable? I feel Pioneer should pick up this cost because they are putting out defective cables. This is a real pain in the a......

Pioneer most of the time will reply "if you do not abuse the cable it would not wear out!" However this 8 times out of ten is not the case they just simply are made poorly.

hey, first sorry that you went through this. few things suck as much as getting a new toy and not having it work lol. as for ebay that was a long time ago but i'm sure i just typed in the HU name and searched for parts. but this is what ebay shows me in my archive history:

Pioneer Avic-Z130BT, AvicZ130BT, AvicZ130 USB Cable (380327785364)
12voltstore-2000 | 5029 | 99.4%
Sale date: 05/09/11

good luck, and the guys i brought it to installed the second one free of charge. i think any car modder would do the same, but then i did promise i'd be getting a complete overhaul of my system which i've had to put off. GTR next year baby!

anyone good luck, the cord from ebay worked fine, and if that doesn't work also check the smaller cord that the longer one plugs into. you can return it to best buy or whatever if that doesn't fix the issue.

Default Hi

Thanks for getting back to me. I have contacted Pioneer and they said they would send me a new cable. I also looked up the one on Ebay ($55) and it is the same one that Pioneer will send me "CDP 1195". I purchased my Head Unit on Ebay at a great price $895 including the Pioneer Camera. My installer would of picked up the tab if I had bought it through them. He wants $100 to install this defective cable because he claims he has to take out the whole dash again. My concern is if it is indeed defective or did our installers crimp a line or left the connection loose? I would like to watch the installers do the new installation but I doubt they would let me. What is a nightmare is if the new cable becomes defective at some point? I sure hope not. I really appreciate the sound this HU brings to the table and I have to have everything work correctly. Especially speakers!! Anyway, what are the chances of this happening? It has never happened to me before. If anyone has had this happen to them please let me know as I am going to try and Pioneer to reimburse me. Yes, I know. Good luck with that one.

i really can't say, the second time was the charm for me but it all depends on whether your installer is worth their salt. if they know what they're doign taking out the dash etc isn't that big a deal, they replaced mine in like 30 mins and offered to let me watch. all i'd suggest is if they let you watch make them plug in the new cord first and see if everything works, before they put the dash back in if possible. great price btw on the HU, and rear cam. didn't get that on mine. good luck
