Speaker Size

Does anyone know the speaker size for the space behind the seats? I have the base model and time to fill the holes.

Not even worth taking a second look at IMO. Rear speakers in a z is worthless not to mention you would have to run new wires and put two wires in blanks in the stock harness.

If you are doing a 5.1 even with no center channel it will make a big difference. It is crucial to do rear speakers in a Dolby digital surrond system, with most DVD players like Kenwood DNX9980HD having a built in 5.1 processor it makes sence to do rear fill speakers. when you plan on listening to 2 channel stereo you can always shut them off. However it is nice to have a rear fill.

If you were on a budget and you did not care about 5.1 then it is a waste and I woyld rather see you put the money in front staging. in a nother words I would not scarifice front stage to do rear.

On a stricktly 2 channel set up with a sub only, th echoice is yours.

As for speakers for that location. You may want to consider the
High energy 3" inch Midrange speakers, they are very shallow and they sound better then most 4" speakers out there, and some lower end 5.25" speakers.

If you wanted add a tweeter to that you can use a 2 way crossover and a set of Tweeters as well.

5.1 in a sports compact car? I would say in a sedan but not in something where the rear speakers are right behind your ears.

So in the base system, are the rear locations just empty?

Hertz...

Wicked, do you sell raw Hertz drivers? I'm contemplating running my front speaks active when I eventually upgrade. You probably already know the sizes, but it would be a 6-1/2 (-3/4)" woofer and a 1" (or larger) tweet.

Ya I know, but believe it or not we do it all the time, You don't always use the center channel but most 5.1 processors will distribute the signal of center to the front left and right speakers. End result is just awesom. Specialy if you have time allignment abilities either in the deck or the processor.

There is no rule that says you can't do it in a sports car. as a matter of fact it works great. Why give up what you like if you don't have to. 5.1 is not just for movies there are plenty of concert recordings and various artists now record in 5.1

Try listening to "Hotel California" in 5.1 vs stereo amazing details come to the staging. I have one customer that won't do a system in any of his cars unless it is 5.1 and has a big collection of 5.1 recorded music videos.

there are times i miss the rear speakers for feel. but i guess i have gotten use to not having any. i run JBL components up front and they do the job...

Boston Acoustic S35 fit nicely in the stock location, they do a nice job of providing the rear fill. There is actually some punch there to them, I have been tweaking my setup with no subwoofer in the car and you can hear some midbass from these little guys.

Props to Boston Acoustic, the stock Bose were a joke in comparison.

Is this in a NISMO and if so, what year?

Thanks in advance,
