Not sure if you've figured this out yet but I purchased a male usb to female mini usb and installed it from my head unit to the male mini usb

I've got a 2017 with a Bose system. Works great! Here's a picture of it, I purchased mine from Amazon for less than $5.00. https://goo.gl/images/nLg2mT
