I use the aswc all day for steering wheel controls. Just follow my videos and you should have it up and running in a jiffy. I can't stand the PAC for a few reasons the big one is needing in wire resistors installed which are fragile. For pioneers you should get a dash kit as they do have a good gap around them.

Their newest model, the CP5 does not require the resistors IIRC... and you can program it with your phone.

How well it works, I can not comment on since I haven't installed mine...

For steering remote, I bought a PAC CP5 but haven't installed it so I can't comment on if it sucks or not. Most people get the ASWC and like it. I have also heard good thinks about the iDatalink Maestro SWC.

I can comment on the performance of the CP5 now... Mine didn't work at all. I even opened a support ticket and they had me try it every which way, even metering out the voltage fluctuations from the remote wires to confirm they were working. In the end, their support couldn't figure out why it wasn't recognizing button presses. I went and bought an ASWC-1, connected it to the same wires, and it worked on the first try.
