Pioneer App radio 3

Does anyone have a Appradio 3?? if so im having problems with connect my phone 4. it wont connect. i bought the pioneer 30 pin interphase cord and hooked it up to the radio. it charges the phone but wont connect the apps to the radio at all! im really confused and need help!

Did you download and run the pioneer appradio app from the apple App Store?

Yes I have the appradio one and also the car mediaplayer. And when I click on those apps it tells me to plug in my device with the cord and nothing happens when I plug it in.
