Default Full blown entertainment MOD

Hi guys,

I just finished a CPU that I will be using to handle Audio, Video. Wanted to post I pic of the start of the build.

I did a fully functional and working integration of a Ipad mini install posted here and thought its time to move on.

I don't think running entertainment apps on the same computer as engine management is a good idea. If one of the apps locks up the computer, you're dead in the water until you reboot. YMMV

PS: you're near my old stomping grounds in Morris (I-80 and US 47). Hi!

What do you mean by running the engine management on a computer or iPad? Are you going to a standalone ecu?

To what end, though? What's the point other than saying you reengineered the wheel? And what standalone is available for the VQ37? Last I checked, there wasn't one that played nice with the vvel?

Right, so what standalone are you going to use if you manage this project?

You're going to write your own program to replace the ecu and run the motor? That's going to be a tough project. Good luck.

You may need at least a little to control the VVEL. That's what stopped Haltech from making a standalone for the VQ37 if memory serves me right.

I'm still trying to figure out why I would want all that stuff in my trunk. Are there future plans to reduce the size? So uhhhh... what's up with them new Nvidia cards? Let me get one of those top secret ones off you.

Dude, there's a lot more to it than knowing how to code. I was wishing you luck since a mistake in your little project can cost you a motor. Obviously being a computer programmer qualifies you to reengineer something like that, so go on with your bad self.

So that's cool if you're literally just looking to redo the ECU for fun. Seems like a lot of work though. But if you enjoy it, then more power to you

Is there an end goal here other than just trying to reverse engineer the Nissan ECU and program your own? The Z's already got push button start and you can add remote start on a manual a lot easier than reprogramming the ECU. Any other specific features you're looking to add/integrate?

I'm definitely interested in details on the computer installation. Are you just installing it in the hatch or do you have some other location in mind? I'd need something that doesn't prevent me from fitting golf clubs in the hatch.

Interesting project, can't wait to see the end result in about a year.
Question though, why are you going with a full blown video card rather then using a cpu's on-board video processing? I just can't imagine doing any real gaming in a car. And if it's just for entertainment 2D stuff what's the reasoning for not using a Pi or System on a Chip system. What sort of moniter/display and applications are you planning for?

It goes well with the water-cooled mobo.

This thing is soooo overbuilt. I like that.

I'm really interested in seeing how this project goes. I started programming back in 1972 or 1973 on an NCR 100 at Joliet Junior College. I haven't done much with computers in the last 15 years or so except click mouse buttons but still like to keep up with what hobbyists are doing. Please post frequent updates.
