Awesome -- thank you for posting this. Will help me greatly as I wasn't going to add this when I install my 4100NEX, but now I feel comfortable doing it.

My only hope is to remove some pins from the metra harness and repin them in the correct location so for the steering wheel controls. I don't want to have to cut into my factory wiring.

No problem man, I have done the pin swap myself it's easier to buy a second harness and tear it down.

I was planning on doing this and have a question for you. I installed an AVIC-8000 in my 2014 bose model (no nav). The Metra harness had a black wire on the opposite side of the plug from the power wire, which said, "for subaru only". I was told that the AVIC-8000 ground wire needed to be directly grounded to chassis (not using the black wire from the Metra plug which appeared to plug into the factory black wire). I DID do that, but was wondering: Should I ground the "for subaru only wire" and connect that to the ASWC-1? It looks like I will need to grab ignition 12V and install the pins for the other two control wires. I think there is a 3.5mm jack on the back of the AVIC for the AWSC-1 to plug into. Any other gotcha's?

After some additional research, it looks like that subaru only wire does not get used at all. Grounding the black one in the video (pin 15) and the black one on the ASWC-1 should be all that is needed for chassis. Going to match the pins and the three wires from the factory plug so that I don't have to cut the factory harness. Took them out of a spare Metra plug. Wish there was an extra power wire in the factory plug.

Well, had to reverse the blue-gray and red-gray wires. After auto program, only the volume worked (as others have reported). This video helped me manually program it. Thanks man! Was very diligent about taking off the battery ground before doing anything - still managed to get the check engine light after putting everything back together and putting the ground cable back on. Leaving the battery unhooked overnight. Hopefully, it will reset the ECU as others reported.

Disconnecting the battery overnight took care of the check engine light. All buttons work, no after install problems now - yay!!!!!1

Simply use the same red wire you are using for your radio. The aswc does not draw a lot of power.

Thanks for posting this up! I used it today getting my ASWC-1 up and running.

Instead of cutting the factory harness, I just repinned some of the unused rear speaker wires from my stereo harness adapter to the remote wire pins... worked great =)
