I had a similar problem installing an avh-x2700bs last week. You need plug the camera cable into the brown backup camera input on the h/u, NOT the a/v input. Try

I had a similar problem installing an avh-x2700bs last week. You need plug the camera cable into the brown backup camera input on the h/u, NOT the a/v input. Try that. It takes a second or two when you shift into reverse, but that should do the trick. I was scratching my head on this too. Pioneer's owners manual isn't very clear on that part.
