Acoustic Panels & Baffels

Has anyone tried this? I'm thinking, just cut it to fit in the rear hatch, on top of the rear deck. It has almost "Zero" weight. What are your thoughts?

If your going to use that you might want to do dynamat first nto going to help much without getting rid of some road noise first.

From my home theater building days I would tell you that those mats are great for keeping sounds from bouncing around and causing secondary waves, but they're not the best at stopping intruding noises.

I recommend the Second Skin products. Some of their damplifier and luxury liner will do a lot to help with noise. They are a forum sponsor... check 'em out.

i use pyramids in my music room but that's for absorbing high frequency resonance/reflections off the drywall.

inside cars where sonic reflection is very controlled it's useless. it will not absorb low frequency noise (road noise, exhaust drone, etc).

Not much use in a vehicle, especially when covered by panels. Once covered it would defeat the use of them, despite being very little benefit due to the vehicles environment (especially when driving) to begin with.

There is a product out there specifically for car audio install. Its 1/8" closed cell foam called ensolite. You bond it over rammat or dynamat for sound asorption while the deading just damps resonance. In a car you need to control both where in a home, resonance is not so much of an issue.

There are a ton others as well. Personally I favor... Cascade Audio Engineering – Sound Damping and Sound Blocking – Anything Else is a Compromise

Hush Mat has a few different thickness of foam, nice stuff and very easy to work with.
