There are a lot of dealer horror stories on the Z33 Revup engine replacement on my350Z oil consumption thread. Ya just don't know who is out there turning the wrench. The Bros 06 Z33 engine swap was perfect with our local dealrship in Roseville / Sacramento area. It was their third engine swap and it was flawless.

I have been tracking both Z34's oil readings every week and the bros is in the safe zone by a long shot. Mine was close to No Good at 1925 miles at 10mm oil consumption. Thereafter it stayed in the safe zone through out the 5k oil change interval. By the time it hit 5k miles there was 16mm of oil consumption which equates to about 3/4 of a quart. No cigar this time around. Then again the 06 Z33 did not really start consuming allot of oil until the odo hit between 22k miles and higher. I am currently at 21k miles on the odo. So if it holds true to 06 Z33 engines, this engine could start consuming more on the next oil change interval. Fingers crossed it does not.

Its funny i read this today.. about 2 weeks ago i changed my oil at 5K interval, car now has 20K. To my surprised i only drained about 3 quarts and 1/2 which means the car comsumed the rest which is a lot. I need to take it to the dealer.

Hopefully you received a fair trade in value for 06. Sold the bros 06 for $15k with 15k on the new engine, total of 42k on the odo.

Ouch...yes indeed that is a lot of oil consumption. I would def get it into the dealer and at least have it reported on a service order that "customer states engine is consuming excessive amount of oil between oil changes". It's important to get documented on your file even if they do not have a TSB yet for the 370Z. It MAY help if you ever have to Lemon Law the car, although I believe Cali Law is 18k miles to have the issue reported to manufacture. Either way they would pro rate the mileage on the car if it ever comes down to a buy back.

I would also ask the dealer to start an oil consumption test on the car and if they look at you funny....then run fast to another dealer. You should be checking your oil weekly and when it’s cold (sat over night). The dipstick High / Low hash marks are 24mm between the high mark (hole) and the low mark (hole). And the mm between the high and low marks is 24mm which equals to 1 quart.

If this issue starts to raise its ugly head on the 370Z then a new thread should be opened, because it will get long. Just look at my350z thread, it's at 219 pages. RevUp Oil Consumption TSB and discussion - MY350Z.COM Forums

You think they can try to void warranty because the car has bolt on mods?

They'd get taken to court unless the owner didn't want to fight over a $5k+ issue... There's no way they could prove minor bolt-ons were causing excessive oil consumption.

They have to prove the mods caused OC. Like WarmAndSCSI said.

I'm not sure this is true. I checked my oil level again today and, after the car sat for about 5 hours, it was at about 13-14mm below H (3400 miles, no oil change yet). I added exactly one quart and that brought the oil level EXACTLY to the H dot.

assuming I am reading the 370z tsb correctly, for
3001-3500 miles, >=22mm is "no good", <22mm is good; therefore I believe you're ok.
