Wait a minute.... Maybe I was misinformed, but on my '16 Nismo, I was told that the VLSD was a sealed, non-serviceable unit that basically wears out after 40-50K miles or so and becomes useless.

Can I change fluids in it on a regular basis and preserve its life a lot longer, then, after all?

You were not misinformed. Based on what I have learned on this forum, the VLSD inside the diff is a sealed unit..but the diff itself is serviceable.
