Default Tons of post for tires. Here's another one.

2012 370Z with 18500 on stock Bridgestones. Car is 24 months old this coming Thanksgiving. Sports package 19" Rays.
Wife's car, daily driver. She is coming off 2005 Toyota Corolla S. She has never had a ticket yet. Almost 40. I hope she gets speeding ticket one day in that Z, hehe.

Tires are noisy. I get it. Sports car not luxury car. Performance not really high on list. She doesn't take car to track. I usually burn up some fuel and tires for $hi77s and giggles once a month.

After reading reviews, I think I have it down to two choices. Also we live in So. Cal. So no snow and very very little rain. Less than 10 miles one way commute daily.

Conti DW for less noise? Same amount of miles okay or

New Goodrich BFGoodrich g-Force™ Sport COMP-2™ Tires.

Not to concerned about price just a little better mileage out of tires and less noise in cabin.

Thanks guys.

BFGs are no good. Pilot Super Sports are a great choice too

IMO, the car is inherently noisy. Putting a quiet tire will not make a big difference and will be at the expense of performance for a minimal amount of improvement in cabin noise. Also, if you put in some tunes while driving, you will wash out the noise in place of the music playing. If you say money is not the issue, might as well go for performance = Mich PSS. It won a performance tire shoot out beating dunlops and goodyears. If you feel strongly about minimizing road noise, you can get the tire of your choice but will need to add some type of sound deadening material to really hear the difference or get some earplugs

Like everyone said, PSS or maybe RE-11. Also put dynamats to almost silence the outer noises.

Noise bothers me too. Conti DW really are quieter. Also they are unbeatable grip in wet conditions.

If you are tracking, then go PSS. If its a DD I'd say consider the Conti DW, (especially if you run in the wet a lot like I do).

Conti DW are are waay less expensive!

Step width up to 255 front 285 back and you will get a bit more grip (less grip in snow).

Either way you can't go wrong.

may have to look at these as an alternative to my PSSs. Need to find an economical but good tire for autocross , either that or give up auto-x.

Yeah...I got my whole set do continental DW's for 850 otd... I've even seen multiple track days(even wet) and use them as my dd....all I can say is amazing....plus 45k tread life...no brainer...
The only thing I would do is upgrade the rears to 285 35 19 on the rears like the stock nismos.....could feel the difference at the track and during off the line takeoffs...

Here is a great side by side review that will illuminate the debate I hope.

Lol i always drive with the windows down. So i cant hear the tires over the wind noise. I had potenza re50's, 11's and P zeros and they all seemed about the same as far as annoying road noise with windows up. Even the stock yokos on it now, i cant tell the difference. Honestly i would lean more toward how well the tire performs than how loud it is.

Thanks again guys. I know I wrote a lot of information down in the beginning that maybe a few folks overlooked. This is a daily driver by my wife who has never had a speeding ticket in her whole life (40 yrs old this dec 2013) She drives Miss Daisy. Her previous car was a Toyota Corolla What about 100hp??
So this is a big jump in HP for her with the Z. She doesn't break the rear end loose. She wouldn't know what to do at a track day! I guess I wouldn't either because my car is a crew cab dually truck. I just wanted a new set of tires that would be good for us here in Southern Calif SNOW is not going to happen here in the Inland Empire. Rain doesn't happen much here either. It seems like we are always having drought conditions!
I know most of you guys have the heart of a racer that is why you drive this vehicle. I can see how you would want to take it to the track. It is fun to drive.
For her, she just needs new skins to make it through another two years safely.
Thanks again. Enjoy the track.
P.S.
Bought the S04 pole positions today. Well at least had them ordered.

Yeah the guy at American Tire said the new BFG sport comp 2 were just as inconsistent as the old tire they replaced. Thanks for the heads up.
Purchased the S04 Pole Positions for little over a grand. Like I said, it is my wife's car. She is slowing learning how to have fun in a sports car. I drive a big crew cab dually truck which is great for me.

She will love the SO-4's! They are very quiet compared to the Yokohama's which came on my Nismo and you will appreciate the grip. I have no experience with PSS, but they are very close as far as overall ratings go. Anyway, I think you made a good choice when you consider the price an over quality of the tire for a DD.

Forgot to mention those. I had a set of pole possitions. You will love the tire, but hate how long they last. Even without abuse they....... well lets say im not buying them again. You might as well put soft composit semi slicks like a lotis exige for all the longer they last normal driving. Fantastic grip though.
