Stock tires rubbing in sharp slow turns

Hello all! I recently bought a 2009 Nissan 370z touring with the sport package. I apologize if this is a repeat post/question.. I searched for it but didn't come up with an answer. I've only had it a few days and I've noticed when making sharp slow turns especially when going down an incline the front tires rub. I took both wheels off and see nothing that could be rubbing! Can anyone shed any light on this for me! I've done no suspension upgrades or anything. It is all stock. Has anyone fixed this with going to a different tire size? Thank you in advance!!

If it only happens with sharp turns at very low speed, that's tire scrub - the tire treads sticking/releasing from the pavement. If you can see no signs of rubbing on the tires or body, it's probably just normal tire scrub.

I have the same issue. Never happened on my 350z but obviously they aren't the same car. It drives excellent the rest of the time so for now I'll assume it's just one of the quirks with the design.

Tires do all kinds of weird crap on different surfaces when they are wet or cold, you can really see this on 4x4's when you turn on the front wheel drive unit and the tires hit dry pavement, it often fels like your front wheels are being ripped off.

As long as your tires and rims are in good shape then don't worry about it.

Other issue is that if you changed the width of the rims on the tires, you could be scrapping some part of the suspension or steering mechanism when the car is under a lot of force or steering, just take the car to a major shop and have the do a free safety check, looking for scrapping or worn metal surfaces, Pep Boys does it for free.

I won't say what Nissan can do with their stock tires. Changed them out for Continentals and the car is much, much quieter and better ride.

I get the same thing and it does seem to happen more when it is really cold outside. I kept thinking I was running over some gravel, but I never could find any. Glad to know its pretty normal. I'm ready for the Spring....

When I first joined the forum there were a few people that had concerns with this. I really thing it has to do with the wide tires, type of tread, and surface. It's nothing to be worried about. If you are all stock then you aren't rubbing anything. It's just the tires talking to you at low speed. They are saying, "Go faster!"

I've noticed the same "scrub" sound and feel since I got my '09 with Sport Pkg. It is below 40 degrees when it shows up. The Potenza tire is a very soft (summer) tire and doesn't perform well in the winter especially before they have warmed up. I'm changing to a year round tire soon.
