I noticed mine as well yesterday. I pulled it out of the garage to do brakes on my daughters car, and no problem. (garage is heated) When I went to move it back in after about 3 hours (lunch break in there!) It felt like it was herky-jerky at full lock, (and audible as well) I'm gonna pull it out tomorrow while its warm, and see if it still does it.
AHA!!! NOW I see the above post!!! lol

Just an update. Drove my Z to Palm Springs and back (with the company of my dog) and it was just the temperature. After it is warmed up there is no grinding sound or feeling. This leaves me asking the next question. Is it bad for the hub or any other wheel component if that "cold skip" keeps happening on a normal basis? if it is, i will need to make more points on my reverse to leave the driveway LOL.

i had that also - had the dealer check it out - and basically said it was normal and nothing mechanical to do about it.

It's the same thing going on as when your tires squeal going around a corner. It's just lower frequency, so it sounds like a growl/rumble/grind. It's not really good for the tires, but it's just one of those things that's hard to avoid in some circumstances. I'd try to minimize it happening, but wouldn't get obsessive about it. Harder compound tires will help - they will slip before so much energy is built up.
It's not hard on the suspension at driveway speeds. The sound you are hearing is just the tire treads grabbing and then slipping. If you turn the steering wheel only when the tire is rolling, it will lessen the effect a little and put less strain on the steering components.
