To be honest, I'm not quite sure the safest way to lift it up now. I'm guessing from the front or back? I usually jack it up from the side and put on jackstands when I change my oil, but lifting it up sideways now will probably cause it to slide off those bricks.

Any suggestions?

See pic.
You definitly need to be caution when lifting it. Those blocks are not very stable in that configuration. I would try to find somthing with a more stable base to rest under the car prior to jacking it up. What ever stable base you find that fits place those in the front and jack the rear up via the rear differential housing. After you have wheels on the rear do the front.

Also it is likely to be a while before you get the new wheels so I would find something stable sooner than later those blocks look pretty iffy.
