Powder Coating / How To Jack Up Car?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if I could get a little input from you guys? I live in an apartment in NC and want to PC my wheels. I have a small 1 car garage that I rent at the apartments. Trouble is I have no idea how I'm going to get my car in the air with all 4 wheels of the ground at the same time. There's just no room in that garage! I've never used a floor jack / jack stands before so that concern doesn't help.

I thought about doing the rears then backing the car in and doing the front. Is there any problem with not doing all 4 wheels at the same time? I'd hate to not get them color matched.

Then there's the problem of getting the tire off and on the wheel. It just seems like alot to tackle without having the right location and tools.

I KNOW my baby would look sick, just dont know how to get it done.

If your car fits in the garage you shouldnt have a problem getting it off ground. Im assuming you only have two jack stands...

So you can jack up the front, lower it down on jack stands, lift up the rear, and leave it on the floor jack till you get the wheels back.

Or buy two more jack stands. problem solved.

op- jokes aside, if you dont know how to jack up a car correctly, make sure you get someone that knows how. for safety you will need to get a hydaulic jack and jack stands that correctly fit under your car. also make sure you know how to remove and torque the lugs correctly.

you may endup damaging the car and possibly injure yourself.

Thanks for the input. A hydraulic jack versus a floor jack? I'll look into it. The real pain is going to be the limited room. I'll keep doing some research, just wanted to throw my challenge out there.

I wouldn't really want to leave a car up on the floor jack itself for days on end. Put it up on four jack stands.

exactly... but honestly if your asking how to jack up your car then please leave it alone...

well, i say hydraulic jack to be more specific that i am not referring to a scissors jack, but a lot folks do call a hydraulic jack a floor jack.

you will need to lift under the front frame brace and the differential so you will need room forward and aft if you are going to do all 4 at the same time.

best bet might be to take your car to a wheel repair place and have them do everything, including taking the wheels off the car, etc.

That's true. Getting a car up on four stands can be dangerous. Especially if you have never even jacked up a car before.

Well the deal is I want to powder coat my wheels. How would taking my car to a wheel repair place help? Are you meaning an outfit that repairs AND could coat the wheels?

larger shops have lifts and stands while they work on your wheels.
