I wouldn't go 305/25. I would suggest 305/30, 315/30, or even 325/30 since you have 20x11. In the sizes that I just mentioned, not every tire will look the same. I would go with the PSS.

HELP (Please?) 8]

New wheels coming in at,

20 x 9.5 +16mm
20 x 11.0 +13mm

What is the ideal set up for function and avoiding the use of spacers?

the factory advans that come with the nismo are 245/40/19. no wonder you hate them. they are too thin at 30...

I thought this is the "Meaty Tire Thread"? Like 275 and bigger in the front and 305 and bigger in the rear.

Yep it is for meaty (275-Front and up 305-Rear and up) some people got it mixed up with the "will it fit" thread.

EXACTLY..... :iagree: EPIC FAIL on their part......jk. Yes, 265/35 looks good on the front (275/35 is even sexier), but 325 or 335 on the rear is balls to wall bada**. I have seen the stock Nismo wheels with 265/35 on the front & 305/30 on the rear and it looks good (better than stock set up), but I want to see those individuals with 325 or 335 on the rear. The wheels do not have to be stock wheels. I heard that there are some individuals running 325 or 335 on the rear and could you guys post those pics please.

carlitos_370z 02-06-2014 05:29 AM

Wrong thread, try the "will it fit" thread so we can keep this one on track. Look for rusty's nismo, he is running 275--325 or daisuki or WoW or buillit etc.

Here's some old pic's. :D Thinking on going bigger later on. 295/35-19 front and 345/30-19 rear. :D Need a 10.5 rim on front thought.$$$ :(

I saw the pics early this morning and I almost need tissues to whipe up the mess. I like those 325's A LOT. Rusty mad props to you big guy on the work you have done....much much love to you.

Would a 325 fit on a 19x10.5 rim (rear) & how would it look? The reason why I am asking is b/c I had a G35 coupe which had 19x9 rims on the rear. I replaced the factory tires which were 245/40 on 19x9 (rear) and went up four sizes to 285/35 and it looked pretty effen sexy.

Using the TireRack Mich PSS spec chart. A 325 fits on 11" to 12" rim. 11.5" is the measured width.

KaienZ34 02-06-2014 09:41 PM

I think a 305 looks just right on an 10.5" rim, 11" 315, 12" 325+ just my personal opinion.

I agree. I was off by half an inch when I went 285/35 on a 19x9 inch rim. This is what a discount employee said. Hmmmm....... I would be off at least by 1/2 an inch...maybe an inch tops (high side of things). Having 305 on the rear is no joke and far from few can say they have 305 in the rear, but there is never ever anything wrong with shooting for higher. Go big or go home....lol.

I absolutely agree too big guy, but saying you have 325 or 335 as a rear tire is just EFFEN sick. As I stated already 305 is no small tire either & no joke. The bigger the tire, the better and no second guessing if that is a "mans" car either. The size of the rear tire is a dead giveaway and you are absolutely making a damn good statement. Everyone would be looking & wondering what size that rear tire is.

im all for meaty tires but when does the weight of these meaty tires start to degrade performance. (now if you have 500hp on tap its not too big an issue)

Just out of curiosity mate why do you want 275/35 over the 275/30s. Im after the 275 front 305 rear, but i would like to know the advantage/ disadvantage of the 30/35 profile. I do prefer the look of the 30 but will it be a much different in ride quality . Thanks

OMGWTFBBQ 02-07-2014 03:13 PM

275/35/19 is the stock size for the rears. So figured we'd use the same tire when moving it to the front. Then for the rear, since the tires are wider, you would go down one step in sidewall profile, so 30 it is. 305/30/19 in the rear. 305 because stock is 245/275 so 30mm difference. 275+30=305.

Also, 245/45/19 has a total diameter of 26.7" (estimated). 275/35/19 has a total diameter of 26.6" (estimated). You want to keep the diameters as close to stock as possible. Stepping it down to a 30 sidewall puts the diameter at 25.6" (estimated).

desperado 02-07-2014 06:07 PM

It was explained to the by a guy at discount tire that on a 255/35 that the 255 is the width (I think we all no that) but what i didn't realize is that the 35 (second number) is the side wall height that is roughly 35% of the width. So when you go to a larger tire the second number gets smaller. It doesn't necessarily mean the front tire on let's say a 265/35 has a taller sidewall than a 305/30 (while ther is some difference it's not much). I found this website (1010tire.com) as a useful tool for me since I'm looking to keep the same diameter as the stock tires but go to a 20" rim and wider tires.

KaienZ34 02-07-2014 06:13 PM

Yes that is all common knowledge, but glad you learned something.

OMGWTFBBQ 02-07-2014 06:43 PM

If you guys aren't, you should really be using a site like this: Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

For the left hand column, put in the stock wheel and tire size. For the right hand column, put in the wheel size you're testing or expecting to fit. Play around with the tire size to get something close to stock diameter. It even tells you how the tire size and wheel width/offset affects fitment and speedometer readings and other cool stuff.

It's a quick and simple tool but super effective in helping you choose your next setup.

Other than that, nailing the perfect fitment comes down to setting your ride height where you want it, setting your camber to where you want it, and then fine tuning everything with some spacers. Use a ruler to measure how much outer clearance you have to figure out what offset wheels to go with.

LostSol 02-07-2014 09:25 PM

Yep, what they said, i want to keep the overall heights as close as possible.

JVerge5363 02-27-2014 10:38 AM

On stock roadster 19" sport rays can I go 305/30 in rear and 275/35 in front with no spacers? And any change if I lowered the car 1.25"? Anyone have pics of a similar set-up???

JVerge...

I just ordered my new tires the other day for my stock 19" Sport Rays... Bridgestone Potenza S04 Pole Positions (265/35/19 Fronts & 305/30/19 Rears). I currently have the stock Bridgestone tires on the car now, so I will indeed get before and after shots to post. I am also planning to lower the car on Swift springs, and later add spacers. I'll hopefully have this done within the next week or two... so pictures will be posted soon!

I had 305's with swifts. A warning to make sure to get adjustable camber arms for the rear or the insides will wear very fast. Also, wait to buy rear spacers until you get the camber adjusted, mine are currently pretty flush with 20mm spacers and 285's.

Hey thanks for the heads up, I'm looking to get my tires and ride for about a week. Then I'll go ahead install the Swifts, and get an allignment. I had already planned on getting the rear camber arms, but now I'll just go ahead and order a pair. Do you reccommend a specific set? And I am for sure gonna wait on the spacers until everything has settled.

I got the SPL Titanium Rear Camber links. They seem really solid and well made.
