Default What should I do with my tires???

So yesterday I took my car to Nissan for an oil change and when they lifted the car they noticed my rear tires were seriously wore out in the inside 0/32 left due to bad camber (just recently bought the car maybe 2 months ago)!!! I don't know how I never noticed it but the tire was completely bald on both rears. AND to top it off...1 of the front tires has a nail in it but is not causing a air leak. The guys at Nissan recommended I replace all 4 tires and get an alignment. I only want to change out the rears because my fronts still have about 4-6/32 left on each tire. What do you guys suggest? Should I replace all 4 or just the 2 in the rear, patch the front tire with the nail, and wait for the fronts to wear out?

So 3 out of your 4 tires have a problem? Just replace the set and get an alignment.

I know buying tires suck - theyre expensive as hell and you KNOW theyre not gonna last long, HOWEVER, your expensive sports car, and you, rely on 4 tiny patches of rubber to keep you from dying, so dont cheap out.

My Altima SE-R was the first car I owned that had tires that I had to budget for. Like you OP, I cringed every time. One year I had the same decision to make and bought only two. I figured I could spread the cost out by getting two more the next year (I am in Minnesota and run winter tires half the year).

Issue #1: They stopped production of the new pair so when I went to get another matching set I was SOL. I don't like having non-matching tires, even if they are just a version change. Which brought me to issue #2.

Issue #2: In rain the old and new behaved differently...but at first my driving didn't! Surprise! Haha. Point is, and why I quoted LostSol, is that not only do you have 4 tiny patches of rubber between you and a pile of junk (or worse) but you need to be able to trust that all 4 of those patches act and behave the same in any condition.

...Buy four unless you drive like you own a minivan.

The obvious answer is to get 4 new tires. However, consider getting different ones. The stock tires on my '09 were so noisy, I couldn't stand it. With about 5,000 miles on them, I pitched them and replaced them with Continental Pro Contact and at least 60% of that awful road noise went away. Best thing I ever did. If you need new tires anyway, think about that angle.

i got 4 michelin pilot super sports installed at discount tire for 1400 OTD and i got my alignment done at the dealer when my dealer had a special on alignments($60) so in total it cost me $1460 to have my tires installed, balanced and aligned but i got really expensive tires, you could have gotten a set of kumhos or something else in that range installed for around $800(that is what i was quoted at discount tires OTD)

just look around your area and see what places have specials
definitely check out discount tires as well if you have them in your area, they gave me the cheapest price out of the 20 tire shops i called(i was quoted anywhere from $1600-$2600 for the pilot super sports at other places)
