Normally you want 8 full rotations of the lugnuts, and if you have to 7.
When I had my 5mm spacers on, I could barely get 5 which was pushing it on stock lugs. I had to check and keep them torqued each week. Are extended lugs mandatory, no... But for complete safeness and peace of mind, it won't hurt to get them. Or make sure to constantly keep a torque wrench with you. ![]()

An FYI the stock lugs can handle an extra 15mm, so if you extend the lugs by 10mm you are then able to run with or without a 5mm spacer without any issues.
