Tire pressure warning light

The warning light came out when it was at around 3k miles, which seems reasonable since it is over a period of 3-4 months but now it is lit again, at only 1,5k-2k miles.

i know it has something to do with the temp and driving condition but it seems a lil quick compare to my older cars. is this normal?

last time when i checked the pressure depleted evenly so i dont think its the problem with the tires.

Check your tire pressure, make sure all tires are not below 29. If none are, then you just have to reset "tire maintenance" reminder on the left gauge.

I've had mine go off "randomly" on the highway too, when pressures actually turned out to be fine.

Once was near a tollbooth plaza with lots of police cars, and a survey crew nearby, so I think that was some sort of strange radio frequency interference. I passed back by the same spot on the highway (going the other way) about 45 minutes later and had the exact same hit on the TPMS light. Both times it turned itself off ~15-30 seconds later.

Another time was more recently, a single incident while cruising at speed. It stayed on long enough for me to find an exit and park at a gas station, then turned itself off just before I cut the ignition and got out and manually checked pressure.

It's also gone off legitimately when I've picked up a nail and had a slow leak 3-4 times so far, so in the overall it's a good thing to have running.

No sure if the spare has a TPMS also. But the light should not come on that often unless you have a nail or screw in the tire that you haven't notice or maybe a slow leak from some other source.

Most of the time the change in temperature has to be significant and the car not been driven in a while for this to happen.

I had same thing happen my tire pressure was perfect. It randomly came on while on highway. The dealer reset the tpms and have not had any issues since

I have the same issue going on it turns on in the morning then by the time I go to lunch its off.
I checked pressure and that is fine. I am thinking is climate change.

I'm pretty sure the spare has a TPMS sensor; at least the last three cars I've owned had them, including my son's Tacoma. It would be worth a quick check.

Ambient temp can drive you crazy as well.

Temperature has a lot to do with it. My friend's CRZ just had this happen a few minutes ago, since it's about 30-40 degrees cooler today than last week. It's simple physics, gas expanding and compressing with temperature. I would suggest checking and filling if needed. But it's nothing to be alarmed about.

Well yeah, it's a given you should be checking tire pressure regularly, I didn't meant to ignore that factor earlier. TPMS != maintenance free tires

my 09 does not have one for the spare. i know cause i pressure it up every Fall to 60psi and it was just a rubber valve.

30 to 40 degrees cooler? WOW! Where you guys at? That can be consider a drastic change on temp.

Sorry, but that is not true.
All gases follow the gas laws.
Nitrogen is very nearly an ideal gas, so it follows PV = nRT,
so P = nRT/V.
