Hankook V12 longevity

My set should have lasted longer. I replaced all 4 after less than 2 years due to a couple of reasons:

One of the front tire suffered a minor puncture of the sidewall from slightly bumping into a curb. It scuffed the wheel a tiny bit, but who knows when the sidewall is going to give out. Other than that, the front tires should have at least 1-1.5 years of tread life remaining. What a waste.
The rear tires had decent tread life remaining, but the inner 1" was getting completely bald. This is a daily driver that doesn't see WOT as often. As some owners have commented, the rear camber probably isn't that great from the factory.

For my new set, I'm going to take advantage of the 305 tires by giving it more positive camber. The camber kit arrived, but not installed. After dropping the car the contact patch covers roughly half of the tire. Hopefully I can shoot for something close to 90% contact patch (i.e., retain some negative camber).

I ended up getting my hancooks. They got the tires @ 10:30 AM. I stayed up a little later than I wanted to today (I work nights) but it barely made my deadline.

My initial reaction is the tires felt very slippery but I am pretty darn sure its because of how they were cleaned and the fact they are bran new. I am sure I will have a better idea of how they are once I put a couple hundred miles on them and actually start driving normally again.

You're going to need to put a few hundred miles of normal street driving on them before the mold release goop wears off the tires. Until then they will feel fairly slippery.

The might also feel a little more squishy than you're used to because you are going from a tire with not much tread left to one with full tread, so you'll feel that tread deflection. The sidewalls are also a bit softer.

All-in-all a good street tire.

I replaced my rears w/ V12 because my stock rears were shot (down to the steel belts) @ 25K. The fronts are still good and will last me a few more months. The V12s were kinda sucking when they were new, but got considerably better as I wore them in. Not as sticky as the Advan Sports, but compariable. Advans have a tread wear of 180 and the V12s have a tread wear of 280. Advans cost 290-360 for rears (depending on where you get them) and V12s cost around 220-245 for rears. I doubt I will go with the V12s up front though. Don't get me wrong, they are awesome for the price. I figure if I am going to replace the fronts, I am going to go with Yokohama Advans all around again or Hankook Ventus R-S3s (140 tread wear). Both tires are around the same price, but the Advans are the stock equipment.............meh

Kind of a funny tidbit, but now that my Pirelli PZeros are at the wear bars after 8,000 miles of driving I am looking at tires and what do you know? I'm looking at the V12s again for my street-only setup even after I said I wouldn't run them again. I don't want to have to replace a street-only tire every year.

These PZeros go quickly! I could probably keep driving them to 10k but that's about it.
