looks nice

SiXK 04-11-2009 06:23 AM

Looks great. thanks for posting. can't wait to see it after the eibachs.

JunoonX 04-12-2009 02:46 AM

That looks really good MiniCobra. Where'd you get the spacers from?

Update: I'm assuming you went with these? http://www.ichibausa.com/15albowhsp6.html Correct me if I'm wrong.

No, those would probably work on the rear though, but not on the front. The front wheel doesn't have large enough slots in the back to clear the stock studs. They will hit, and the rim will not fit flush against the spacer.
Semtex already tried this.

I went with these: 15MM Aluminum Wheel Spacers
Takes a little longer to install b/c you have to push out the stock studs, but they are lighter, and you don't have to worry about two sets of bolts to check for tightness.

I'm curious how this affects the handling. Any reports you have will be much appreciated. Do you track the car?

john370z 04-12-2009 10:06 AM

Looks GREAT!!! Love it!!! I was told it helps handling a bit. I find it hard to notice but I usually don't push mine to the limits. GREAT PICS!

It definitely improves the handling, giving a wider stance by 30mm over stock, seams like it hooks up better. I also installed Eibach Progressive Springs (full review coming) yesterday, so I didn't get to put a lot of time on the spacers by themselves. I don't track the car, yet

Minicobra1 04-13-2009 10:43 AM

Eibach springs installed, with 15mm spacers.

Wow! Thats a sweet ride. How long does it take to install the spacers? Can you give me the part # for the spacers? Thanks bro.

Here is the link: 15MM Aluminum Wheel Spacers The ones that come with the studs already installed in the spacer should work as well, but only for the rears. The front you will have to replace the stock studs, b/c the rim isn't cut out on the the backside to clear them.

DJcuetip 04-14-2009 03:41 AM

nice mini... it will go good with the eibach because the eibach tucks the wheels in a lil! great job

bullitt5897 04-14-2009 11:00 AM

This is good news :D this also means those trying to find the right offset in wheels can see what a 19 x 10 wheel will look like given a 15mm drop in offset and zero camber change :D Good Job Mini! Thnx!

Ok, finished installing the front 15mm spacers. Thanks to Lou from Amplified Motorsports. Car feels even more planted now, still has good turn-in, but sticks much better. The picture of the longer studs is on the rear, hence the parking brake.

batman_4 04-17-2009 02:17 AM

that looks really good . i think i'm going to make this my 1st mod, spacers + drop. however i'm thinking on going w/a 20mm on the rear.

Yep, a 20mm would work fine on the rear. The only reason I didn't go 20 is I'm going to put 305/30/19 Nitto Invo's on the back and was worried they will rub.
After I get the tires installed, I may switch to 20mm.

batman_4 04-17-2009 04:58 PM

^ are you gonna slap that rubber on the stockers?

Yes, for now, until I can find a 19x11 rear with the right offset. I know a 10" is prob a bit too small for a 305, but I've seen that size mounted, and it's not too bad. 10.5 or 11 would be better. The invo only comes in 285 or 305, otherwise I think a 295 would be perfect for the 10" stocker.

hot370z 05-09-2009 02:18 PM

To get the same look without spacers how much off set would i need. Like to put 19x10/F 19x11/R

nogoodname 05-09-2009 02:46 PM

just a little thing can make a nice difference...... also, i liked how you put a before and after in the same pic....good idea...less clicking around

Junior370z 05-09-2009 09:30 PM

The 15mm spacer in the front looks really good. I also have the rear 15 mm spacer in the rear, thanks to lou@amplified. One question, does the front spacer affect the camber and alignment? I've already had my alignment done after lowering it. I don't want to pay for it again.

I cant say for sure, I know my car felt the same after the front spacers, doesn't seam like it effects the alignment.
I just installed the Hotchkis sway bars yesterday and wow, they have really made a difference, the car is so much more connected now. The ride quality is virtually the same, just a tiny bit stiffer, but what a difference in the corners.
I'll post up a full review in another thread. PM Lou, he's got some good prices

Junior370z 05-09-2009 11:12 PM

Yeah he does have good prices! That's where I ordered my spacer too. So you really like the sways huh! Man I'll probably order a set. For now with it lowered on eibachs and the rear spacer the Z takes corners pretty great. I can only imagine how much better it would be with the sway bars!

Bster 05-10-2009 06:34 AM

Just a thought... any vibrations, no matter how little, experienced after fitting the spacers?

No, none that I've noticed.

m4a1mustang 03-28-2010 08:31 AM

Wish I had searched for this thread earlier. I'm installing 15mm front and 20 mm rear H&Rs today. How'd you get the longer studs in the rear with the parking brake in the way? That's the the only piece of the install that's making me wonder.

gpa7pk 03-28-2010 10:43 AM

Before trying to remove the rear rotor locate the rubber plug and remove it. Turn the rotor so the hole you just unplugged is at 12 o'clock. Look through the hole into the parking brake assembly and locate the star wheel adjuster for the parking brake. Take a standard screwdriver and flip the notches on the starwheel up or down (I forgot which way) to loosen the emergency brake shoes so that the rotor will be easy to remove (and replace later). This is a good time to take a picture for reference. With the rotor removed the emergency brake assembly can be partially disassembled by taking a pair of needle nose pliers and taking the top spring off. There are two brake shoe hold downs at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock that you remove with a screwdriver by turning the hold down approximately 90 degrees. This will allow the brake shoes to be pushed away enough for you to remove the starwheel (remember how the starwheel was mounted). Now you can remove and install each wheel stud at the 12 o'clock position. I am concerned the you will have enough space between the hub and the brake shield to insert the 20mm studs. I went with the 15mm spacer and it was close but you may not have a problem, so try it. Put everything back together making sure the brake shoes are centered like in the picture you took, adjust the emergency brake starwheel to the point the rotor can't be turned by hand, pull and release the emergency brake handle a couple of times, loosen the starwheel two to three notches (enough so that you can turn the rotor by hand). Then set the emergency brake handle on and make sure you can't turn the rotor. Put the rubber plug back in the inspection hole, put your spacer and wheel back on and torque the lug nuts to 80 - 85 foot pounds.

I used Modshacks DIY on removing and installing the wheel studs.

subscribed!!! post your results here too m4a1!

Mike 03-28-2010 02:06 PM

I only did 15s in the rear, but you can angle the bolt enough to get the end into the hole, then rotate the hub to get it all the way in without messing with the parking brake at all.

GFR 06-17-2010 01:54 PM

i have a 40th anniversary 370z and i am wondering if i can put 20mm spacers do you think the tire will rubb on with the fender ??

tjlazer 06-17-2010 02:36 PM

It will not rub.

GFR 06-18-2010 10:30 AM

what kind of 20mm spacers should i buy to be sure tht the ride will be just as good ? part # or make ?

kenchan 06-18-2010 02:20 PM

i run Kic's 15mm + hubcentric rings (rears only), but you can get ichiba's, H&R's, etc for a similar design. 15/20/25mm's.

check out the vendor section CPZ or CZP or something sells them at a good deal. :)

m4a1mustang 06-18-2010 02:45 PM

I like H&R.

ZForce 06-20-2010 10:07 PM

H&R hands down for the perfect fit.

xbigb4ller69z 06-21-2010 10:12 AM

Can you run 20MM in the front if you're dropped on H&R springs or eibachs?

kenchan 06-21-2010 11:15 AM

im pretty sure, yes. actually i think even stock height it can probably "look" okay... i left the front as-is because i am not a fan of tramlining and wanted straightline stability for our roads here.

Yup, I am running 20mm dropped on Eibachs in the front, looks dyna-mo!

Liquid_G 06-23-2010 12:22 PM

20Front/25Rear or go home...

370Z JT 06-23-2010 01:11 PM

if i get spacers for the h&r drop on sport wheels, then most likely I will have to remove the spacers when I get aftermarket wheels? newb question.
