Over spray from corrosion(tar like) coating

I have had my Z since October 4 and I noticed when I went to wash it for the first time that I had a lot of black crap (tar like) on the inside of the rim. After looking at all for wheels I saw that they all had it and I put two and two together and figured Nissan was careless when applying the coating. It took forever to get it all off (full removal of all wheels) and the downside there are light spots of me having to scrub too hard with a SPONGE to get it all.

I was wondering if anyone else had/has this problem.

I think I am going to write Nissan and try to have them pay to re-coat the rims for the light spots. I don't care what you use to wipe that crap off but no matter how soft or how much care I put into getting it all off the light spots in the factory paint on the rims could not have been avoided.

This is normal for these rims, and any other rims with deep dishes on the backside. Get yourself some tar remover chemical, or the like, to remove the specks. Waxing the inside of your rims will help to reduce, but no alleviate this issue. There are specialty rim wax sealants/waxes available too.

Thats what I did use and because the black over spray was on so think in areas the paint coating of the rims started to get thinner in areas where excessive scrubbing was required. And this wasn't from driving thru freshly laid tar, this was a factory coating applied to the undercarriage to prevent rust and such. This was a lot worse then specks too. Its almost like Nissan sprayed the undercarriage with the wheels on. I mean some over spray areas were 1/8" deep. I should have taken pictured before I started removing it all. Total lack of care by whoever sprayed the corrosion coating.

Unfortunately, the backside of our rims are actually "fogged" with paint versus being painted correctly. If your references to your thread are more about the lack of paint on the backside of the rims then you are one-hundred percent correct. Will Nissan do anything about it? No. They will simply say the vendor (Rays) didn't meet spec, and not Nissan.
