Anyone considered a re-spray?

Has anyone done, or considered repainting their car to a non-factory colour? There are some colours not availible that I think would look amazing. What kind of price do you

A good quality repaint can be near five digits.

^ he's right. You have to consider the fact that they have to completely disassemble the car - remove the engine/interior/everything - in order to paint it properly. Unless you want door jams and an engine bay that doesn't match the rest of the car.

Come to Earl Scheib's in Baltimore. They will repaint the entire car for 400 bucks. Of course you will have a bunch of rags that match your car everytime you wash it.

Yea expect close to $10k or more for a quality repaint. we wanted to do my brothers accord when he had it and they were quoting like 6-8k for a decent job (this was the same company that painted my race bikes and I knew the owner.) Their show paint jobs cost $10k+

Is it possible to just get a fresh new clear coat?

I was thinking of doing that. A wet sand, a new clear, and another wet sanding. This paint job is pretty lousy.

I was also thinking that, while I'm at it, I could get a spray of non-metallic black. It wouldn't look enough different from the metallic to stress about the interior bits, etc.

One major problem is that any new paint job, no matter how expensive, would likely *lower* your car's value because people will think your car could have been damaged.

Default I thought . . .

I really thought that the 370Z
would look great in an olive
green metallic color. The interior
could be black or tan.

I for one am not very happy with the clear coat on the car. maybe the imperfections show up better on the black car, but it does seem to be a very substandard coat.
I had to have the dealer fix some small imperfections i noted in the clear coat on the car when i took delivery. the imperfections i noted are gone, but when the sun hits it just right you can see where they buffed it out.

my friends lexus had a metallic dark purple paint job.. turned out great. But it cost 8k D:

+engine bay was not painted

I think you guys are under appreciating the factory paint job.. You have to pay well over 5k for a quality, "better than oem", paint job these days.

Default factory clear= crap

Dont mind my paint the pearl is lovely. But after a few rock chips in the hood, it is easy to tell that Nissan puts a blond c*&t hair thickness clear coat on the cars. Thats crap. Im seriously considering taking mine in for a 3 or 4 layer clear coat.

The paint&clear coat has always been c*&t hair thin, even on the 350's!
