Z tire rotation

Tire rotation question: My dealer told me he would "rotate" my "Z touring/sport" OE tires, side to side, if I wanted. Anyone tried this at all? Seems like it might

Anyone tried this at all? Seems like it might be good if there were any signs of "cupping".
