If the car is garaged it makes a difference for sure. I agree, Tires that are replaced every couple of years won't show as much damage. I feel if I'm going to use a tire dressing I may as well use one that is good for the tire.
Another issue is that owners rarely clean off the old dressing when washing their vehicle and then apply a fresh coat of tire shine versus simply layering good onto contaminated (bad).
