That sounds like it would have worked also - I'll remember that one if there's a next time. Good tip.

I used some anti-seize on the mating surfaces putting everything back together, so hopefully there isn't a next time.

Plain alloy wheel against steel hub leads to galvanic corrosion, I made sure I used anti-seize the next time. The wheel had only been on there for 6 months!
