I have a customer that will be bringing me a set of corvette wheels to powdercoat that tried the diy method first. In the end, its costing him extra to have them coated due to the extra work required on my part. He was not successful at all, with lots of chips and peeling.

Now if you were to take them to a bodyshop to have them professionally sprayed, you would probably get better results, but it may wind up costing more than powdercoat.
