Question Alignment and tire longevity? Replacement tires?

Speaking of alignments and tires...

1. Do 370's hold a good alignment? Recommend align how often? (since we have already determine the tires do not get rotated)

2. How long do the stock tires on the sport model last?

3. Recommendations for replacement tires? (in the past I have liked Michelin Pilot Sport A/S+ tires...)

1. The front can't go out of alignment except for toe, which shouldn't happen until the tie-rods get worn. That shouldn't be for a long time.

2. 12-20K depending on how you drive.

3. That depends a lot on your personal preferences. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S+ is a good street tire that you can get a lot of miles out of, but it doesn't have the sticky road hugging grip of the softer compound tires.

The front can't? That sounds like an attribute the rear would have. (I had a mustang -- default solid rear axle. Does the Z's independant rear suspension mean that my rears will now require alignment as well?)

Don't front alignments typically include three adjustments; camber, toe, and caster?

From the factory, Z's have no adjustment for camber, front or rear.

That is interesting. So, not having adjustment.. does that mean it is not possible for the camber to get out of whack? Or does it mean that if you do get the camber out of whack, there is no fixing it?

The camber and caster are locked, there is nothing to adjust which means it really can't go out of alignment unless you bend something that isn't supposed to bend. At that point the only way to correct the alignment is to replace whatever part you bent.

If you want a non-stock front alignment you need replacement upper control arms. They add considerable weight but give you about 5 degrees camber and 2.0 degrees caster adjustment range.

I'm not really interested in doing anything custom to my Z, and intend to leave it just how the engineers designed it. It is nice to know how it is made though, so some shop doesn't try to screw me, and so I know what my alignment options are.

The '98 Mustang GT Conv. I had was a pain when it came to alignments. Tires would always end up with feathered edges. Never could figure that one out. The car just never seemed to hold an alignment. I'm just hoping the Z will be different.

Thanks for your help guys!

I have 30.5k on my odometer and the rear tires have 2.5/32" and the fronts have 4.5/32".

Ordered a couple Michelin Pilot Super Sports to put on in a little bit!

Default Race 4?

Along these lines. My 370z factory rear tires are shot but my fronts have plenty of tread. Do I need to place all for anyway or just the rears?

How so? Isn't it a solid piece? If it is please enlighten me, cause my rear wheel camber cost me $600 on new tires within 3 months

There are cam bolts at the end of the 2 controls arms to adjust camber and toe. If you are lowered then the stock cam bolts may not be enough to restore to a factory alignment spec.
