Default Daily driver tire question with a TT twist

Ok, Ok,I know that the daily driver tire question has been asked a million times but leave it to me......

After ZDAYZ, I am in desperate need of new rear tires. Where my Z (09 370z 6MT touring nonsport) is currently NA, running 275-35-19 on sport wheels (rear). She is having a TT fabricated and will be installed and running well within the lifespan of the new tires.

She will continue to be my good weather DD with some track days coupled with some spirited street driving (someone needs to check those subies). Im looking at repacing them with re11's while I can (availability)

So..... do I stay with the 275/30 or go 285/35 or 305/30.....and why?

Thanks!
Emily

Emily, you need wider wheels, 305s at least, and you'll need camber arms/toe bolts to straighten the tires out (you'll need 0 rear camber to put power down)

And you didn't send pics of my screw up.

How much power and torque would it produce afterward?

Since there are track days planned in the future, I'll suggest this scenario with two sets of wheels and tires. First set is a street set with dedicated summer tires. In this case, it can be a nice set of aftermarket wheels of your choice, but the more important aspect is the tire compound selection. RE11 is suggested a lot in this forum and it may work for your application. Personally, I like running MPSC or PZero Corsa on the street for a high-powered car.

The second set is for the track only. To minimize cost, the stock wheel set can be used with a set of scrubs. Scrubs can be had for a very low cost and nowadays they are available in 19" sizes, although there are a lot more sizes in 18". They usually run about $100-150 a piece.

Why run scrubs for racing duty? Because these tires are designed for road courses and they're more durable when it comes to high operating temperatures and high lateral-g loads. They're a lot less likely to overheat and to lose traction which means they are safer for racing duty. They provide much higher grip at operating temperatures, so be prepared to have proper suspension improvements should you choose to be more serious. For now, the brand of the scrubs doesn't matter much; Pirelli or Continental-Hoosier would work.

Definitely wider with the TT power increase....but two sets of wheels/tires are nice if you can afford it.

Yes, but your gains are limited because there will be a bubble and the tire can effectively slide around
