A run flat rated less noisy than a non run flat?

Run flat have very stiff sidewalls, but they are generally too stiff and actually reduce handling. This is one of several performance design compromises so they can run flat. Also, the compounds are typically noisier than a non run flat tire. For these reasons, I cannot believe there are any run flats that outperform the PSS.

There's a reason many sports car drivers refer to them as runcraps. Unless you just don't want to have to change a tire on the side of the road, there's no reason to use them. I like my family members to have them, but I'm perfectly fine changing a tire myself.

Probably better rating, compared to other run flats, not directly compared against the PSS.

Getting run flats will make the car slower in almost every aspect. That added rotational weight will kill you

I put a set of Driveguards on our Hyundai Elantra about a month ago to replace the OEM Hankooks with 40k miles on them. These cars do not have a spare tire.

They are slightly quieter than the Hankooks, and the traction seems better (they're V rated instead of H) but I do notice a slightly more "active" ride due to the stiffer sidewalls.

Overall, I'm pleased with the selection but really can't say how to compare our Elantra to my 370Z w/Sport pkg.(no comparison) which recently got Michelin AS/3s, which I really like over the stock Bridgestones, especially how much quieter they are.

Do they make Driveguards in a size suitable for a 370Z?

Yes, the Driveguard comes in 225/50R18 and 245/45/R18 to fit a 370Z Touring coupe.

Why did you choose the A3 vs the Pilot SS?

The PSS is a performance summer tire. The AS/3 is an all-season. They're not really in the same category and not often cross shopped. If you want performance like the PSS, you don't get an all season (or run flats). If you need all season tires, you don't get extreme performance summer tires.

I wanted an all season tire so I went with the AS/3s. The 370 sat in the garage way too often last winter due to the cold, and since putting on the AS/3s, I've been able to drive it more and no more "chirping" when cold and I really don't think you give up that much with them on the street. They were top rated A/S ultra high performance tire by Tire Rack.

No regrets whatsover.

I don't believe the Driveguards are available for the Z w/Sport Pkg. tire sizes.

ive had runflat tires on one of my previous cars. i did not like the heavier weight vs non-run flat version (not sure about the bs ones) and the unnecessary stiffness in ride..
