Yeah, never had an issue on my SRT4 running straight pipe exhaust and emissions. As long as there are no codes you're good to go.

Super Werty 07-16-2014 08:35 AM

you guys want to do a big meet up soon? It would be cool to get a huge meet set up, with like 30+ cars! If there is interest I will try and plan something

Haboob 07-16-2014 08:39 AM

I'm down. Are you okay with non-Z's attending?

Say... a GTR instead? If so, I'll see if my buddy wants to come along.

Someone said to me yesterday they check a/f ratio and timing? This isn't California so I can't see then doing tail pipe probe but was told they do that sometimes also. I'm running ethanol so I guess if they did I "should" be ok but with the timing and such I would for sure fail. I may just register the car in pinal county at my brothers house. I was told if u fail emissions in maricopa county your f d if u try and register it elsewhere. Dunno

I don't think they do anything like that. At least not at the emissions place here on the West side on Glendale Ave.

SS_Firehawk 07-16-2014 09:55 AM

I'll go, but my window is small. I have to move my **** again.

NickTurnon 07-16-2014 10:22 AM

Kev & I have been trying to plan a big meet up for months! We just need to pick a saturday or sunday and just stick with it

I might be getting a warehouse/garage soon to do all my dipping stuff as well as work on cars. So if you guys need a nice little retreat and want to work on your car or add parts etc.. It will be available to anyone that wants to get some stuff done

We need to get together sometime man.

And I still feel so embarrassed about not recognizing you that day! :icon17: I was caught so off guard.

pfdaxe 07-16-2014 11:39 AM

I don't have another free Saturday until the 9th...

Super Werty 07-16-2014 01:51 PM

Haha I was caught off guard too! Butterfields always makes me happy :happydance:. Except waiting in long lines in the heat.

Anyways, Id like to get together soon - Even if its just 5 of us. The promenade plaza on FLW & Scottsdale Rd has a great parking structure thats always empty. We can get some really good shots up there on top.

Let me know if you guys want to make it happen! I've been out of the car stuff for months now. Wanting to get back at it..

Anyone know of a place that does clear bras (for a good price) ? I may be adding an Amuse front bumper and would like to protect the paint.

I'm asking a buddy where he got his car clear bra'd. I don't like mine, so I'm not going to recommend them. :icon17:

Cactus Tint on Scottsdale Rd near Signature Audio.

They did his GTR, and so far it's been superb quality from what I've seen.

I'll look into it. Just want the bumper done to protect it. Hood already has enough chips.

Also, anyone here have HFC's? I'm thinking about a set of Berks and wanted some local opinions and possibly hear what they sound like in person...

I have Berk HFCs and Berk CBE on mine.

I really like the whole setup. It's not very loud (from what people tell me) just cruising around, but then roars when you get up above 4k.

I do get a CEL (P2098) randomly, but it will either go away or I can clear it. Surely a tune would resolve that completely.

There is a tinny/metallic sound to them until they warm up, but people have told me that they couldn't hear it when I got on it - it's only from right inside the cockpit. There's also a hiss (as with most HFCs I've read) under deceleration, which doesn't bother me a bit.

Hopefully some time we will be able to get a few of us together. I know over the last two years I have been dying to hang out with other Z boys (or girls). Car still doesn't look like much but it's what's on the inside that counts hahaha.

Haboob 07-26-2014 09:00 AM

I think once it cools down slightly and the threat of haboobs (not me, those poser dust storms) goes away we should be able to get something together.

Also, it's elections time, so I never know when I'm working late, Saturdays, or a night shift.

pfdaxe 07-26-2014 08:24 PM

I'd like to hear your HFC's H-Boob. I'll do the install myself if I do get any.

Haboob 07-28-2014 08:05 AM

Sure thing. When do you have time? I know you have the weird FD schedule. :D

Good question. I'm waiting for my Amuse front bumper to arrive and GT-R hood vents, then I'll cruise to Pavillions. My free time is so limited. Prob hook up with you and some others over there :tiphat:

I can always just throw a clear coat of plasti-dip out of my gun or glossifier over the top of your amuse bumper. It'll act like a clear coat/bra, probably cost you $60 or so depending on how much dip I need to use. Might be something to consider though. Clear Bra will probably cost you around $200+ or so?

My dip has saved my car from rock chips for months now!

It does sound really quiet rolling around, but when he gets into it, the sound picks up more then I thought. His setup is not obnoxious by any means but more clean/exotic sounding IMO

Thanks Nick. Something to consider for sure. Does it have a good gloss? I may have to see some examples. My front being black shows every damn little mark.

I checked with Cactus Tint. $450 just for the bumper. Seems a bit steep, but probably since it's located in N. Scottsdale (Airpark). I need to find someone that does it on the side

Ah, sorry.

I paid $750 for bumper, 1/3 hood, 1/3 fenders, mirrors, and that small area just in front of the rear wheels (rocker panels?).

But, the front bumper has been penetrated so I'm still upset about it (over a year ago now, lol). I know it won't survive everything and it was probably a perfect shot, but still... I guess it's the breaks of DD'ing the Z. But if you want to check them out, it was Brian @ ProtectAShield: http://protectashield.com/

Haboob 07-29-2014 10:09 AM

Although now that I am looking at the site it says 5 year manufacturer warranty... I should give him a shout.

No, but I probably know the guys on the truck...

NickTurnon 07-30-2014 10:36 AM

Awesome news guys.. I got a second job on top from my normal 40+ hrs a week job..

I am now running a Plasti-dip garage for Apex Customs in Phx. They are a complete auto customization company and possibly one of the best if not the best vinyl wrap shop in Phx.

In a couple months they are going to be getting a new lift which gives the shop the ability to do exhaust and suspension work as well as performance part installations.

They are right off the 10 and Jefferson- so decent location for everyone on here.

With all that being said, I can probably get some discounts on vinyl, clear bras, plasti-dip, etc.. Let me know!

Haboob 07-30-2014 10:43 AM

Sweet!

Cars & Coffee is this Saturday too. Hopefully the weather cooperates and the rich folk's bring out their sweet rides.

I may check out that place your working at. I'm back and forth on wrapping my car as I'm OCD as hell. I have not seen a wrap in person and even wrap people tell me it's not perfect so I will most likely be painting the car. I owe it to myself to check out a wrap in person first, and now I have a place to check out. Just waiting on my fujimura side diffusers to show up :shakes head: amuse bumper came 3 weeks ago but these little babies are no where to be found yet. So tired of having a 4 color car lol if u count the carbon fiber as one if the colors. At this rate I will be lucky to have it painted by next year.

TT, You've seen my car in person at Cars & Coffee and seen the plasti-dip. But yeah, I am sure we can show you some of the various vinyl products if you didn't want to dip it!

Once you've got all the parts installed, hit me up. We can go thru some of your options and colors etc.

 And thanks guys. Ill throw in the idea of having a small Z/GT-R gathering at the shop or something? Might be nice to do something like that down the road.

Hmm.. Not sure what their main hours are. Probably 9-6?

Anyways, I am there most nights til' 8/9 or so. Best bet is to call the number on the website and ask for Tyler. Tell him you heard about Apex thru me and I am sure he will get you a good deal so you can make sure that Amuse stays nice
