Edit now that I'm not trying to type on my phone- I'm not a huge fan of tuning WOT/ full bore pulls on the street. That's more for on/off throttle, part throttle, etc. I'd prefer to have the high speed stuff done on a dyno. Plus, I want all the printouts- power, boost/afr, etc. The butt dyno is often a liar. If I'm going to drop the coin to switch software, I'd like to be able to look at it and say "this is X more power at Y rpm".

completely agree with you. I see a huge amount of shops "tuning" on the dyno, and not paying any attention to the drive characteristics of the car. so what you end up with is a car that makes a sh#t load of power, but stalls, farts, and makes the driver look like an idiot. Not much fun to drive in short.

I would much rather give up 1-2% on the top end to have a well rounded car that has factory like transitions.

Now all that said, you CAN get 95-96% of everything available with drive cycle tuning and data logs, BEFORE you ever strap the car to a chassis dyno. And that's coming from a guy that owns two 50K$ dynos.

I enjoy working on the dyno, and have 25+ years in this business. But not everyone wants or needs the last 4-5% that you get from the extra money spent on the rollers.

Those of you that have blood sweat and cubic dollars in your car, yes I understand. Trust me I understand. My Mazda 6 World Challenge car spends about 1/3 of its life on the dyno trying new stuff

Rather than type out a novel here, I'll just get to the point. I'm looking for a total drive-out cost to come to your shop, dyno tune it, touch it up on the street and go home with the cable. I'll be scheduling it right after I see that Ecutek has added the boost control functionality to the software.

Give me a call, or PM me and we can work something out for you. Fair enough?

phunk 06-25-2013 12:32 PM

so is it 1500-1600 for everything i would need to tune my car myself? i dont let other people tune my car... that sounds like a great way to end up with a blown engine :) i just want to buy what i need to never have to rely on anybody else for getting my tune completed.

Dynotronics1 06-25-2013 12:34 PM

if you qualify as a dealer the cost is ~1500-1600 plus hardware and license per car.

There is no end-user version of the software, sorry

phunk 06-25-2013 12:34 PM

what are the dealer qualifications?

Have a shop? What type dyno does your shop own?Tune now? What platforms?

phunk 06-25-2013 01:31 PM

Had a shop, sold the dynojet, only tune my cars now. I am in the manufacturing industry now. I just want to tune my own car, not interested in any other platforms or anything like that. Just 1 car, the one I drive.

I'm still so on the fence about what's going to be the best route for me, EcuTek or Uprev. Gotta figure it out quick though, the Z is finished with bolt on's and is just sitting in the garage untuned.

kinda hard decision. Please let me know if you need any more info, or if I can help in anyway

arnoldas 06-27-2013 09:55 AM

got my kit yesterday :)

Sh0velMan 06-27-2013 09:59 AM

If anyone can post some logs after they get their tune, I'd be most grateful!

I'd love to see RPM / AFR / Coolant Temp and Timing Deg BTDC of some WOT pulls.

if you buy the kit, you would have the datalogger software, and I'll send you all the datalogs you wish to see.

In fact I would be happy to have your ideas on different adjustments, as its always best to have good, educated input from those folks that drive these cars everyday

I'm more looking for confirmation of certain claims made about the software.

I have my own correlations of RPM/AFR/Coolant Temp/Timing and I want to see how folks' cars behave with this new software on it as compared to how I know they behave with UpRev. *

Does the software the client gets with the cable not allow them to record and review logs themselves? Does a log file have to be sent in to you first in order to get readable logs? Just curious.

*These correlations are with 93 octane, of course. If a user is in NY or CA and doing this on 91... It's less useful to me.

The software comes with the logging suite, and captures in cvs. There is also a pretty nice graphic GUI that allows you to look at the data in several layouts, with the ability to manipulate the output as you wish.

And no the logs are viewable right from the drive

jofro6 06-28-2013 07:22 PM

Super excited, got my kit today... then got super bummed when i had to Rom Dump and now wait for EcuTek :( lol

arnoldas 06-28-2013 08:44 PM

what do i do if when i plug the cable into my car and have all the programs running it says rom not found or applied or something like that after you do the vehicle detect

jofro6 06-28-2013 08:54 PM

check the ZONY fb page... i just posted the steps in there for you (i think thats you lol) to dump it and upload to ecutek

arnoldas 06-28-2013 09:26 PM

yup just read it thanks haha

arnoldas 06-28-2013 09:30 PM

and can we use ecutek as a Diagnostic Tools, i saw that you can do it for the gtr

Dynotronics1 07-10-2013 08:19 AM

Still sending cables out! Anyone else want in on this GB?

Chuck33079 07-10-2013 09:22 AM

Did you tell them I've got money in hand? ;) Next time you touch base with them let them know some guy on the internet is getting really impatient.

you think your impatient???? You should see the emails we get daily! LOL

ZeN 07-10-2013 11:03 AM

Dynotronics, can you confirm one very important thing with mothership. Since my car is a JDM car, its OBD2 plug is locked. In other words, only Consult 3 can have access to it. I've tried with so many OBD2 bluetooth kit trying to retrieve PID/Data but everytime it poll for it the ECU just gave nothing. This has been confirm with all members in Malaysia/Brunei. We're abit unlucky since our country didn't enforce the OBD2 compliance.

Can you check if its ok ? I dont want to spend hundreds of dollar and found out that i could'nt even connect it. Another question would be can ECUTEK enable Mode 0 on the ECU, basically allowing me to use any kind of OBD2 product to datalog.

dP3NGU1N 07-10-2013 02:26 PM

Just made my purchase =D Looking forward to getting it.

derraj06 07-10-2013 03:23 PM

I am interested int this GB as well. Also, please check my post in the EcuTek annoucement thread.

Thanks!

You stumped me on that one, but I will ask the lead engineer in the morning, and let you know the answer

Sounds like a plan to me!

The race rom traction control we use on the BRZ is really nice for track work. Much like the Porsche sport version in the GT3, there, but not intrusive. I'm hoping the Z will react the same way

Just let me know and I'll see what I can do to get the software and log some runs. I'm going to start timing my runs (assuming minimal traffic, never going over the speed limit ....) I'll also have a GoPro to shoot video with. Should be a good proving ground to show what it's capable of vs stock TC. I'm also planning a track day sometime this fall with some Vettes and Porsches.

Looking forward to giving it a shot.

arnoldas 07-12-2013 12:08 AM

is it bad if i went for a couple of runs against my friend while im still not fully tuned (on my second or 3rd file), was at redline most the time and got to the point where my car went into limp mode at 260 degrees and coolant started to boil in the overflow tank
