Was it one of the 1/4 mile time threads or a separate one. If so any idea what section if was in or what it was titled.

I went like 2 months ago under the same conditions (100+ temps and high humidity) and ran a 13.4 with just my exhaust. Maybe it was the inexperience for you? It was only my 3rd day ever at a drag strip so I'm not exactly a pro either. Was that with your current setup or did you have less mods back then?

:bowrofl:

IBTL

Dont remeber the title. I can find it but not now its to late LOL. I ran so bad prob cause I have never ever been on a track before. Me and the other Z's where actually some of the fastest cars there and none of us besides Chuck did faster then a 13.8. We had better times then a couple of new SS Camaros, every GT stang that was there, a Last Body style Trans Am and a SRT8 Chanllenger. And it was with my current mods.

Hmmm maybe the track sucked. I was definitely doing better than the Camaro SS's too last time.

Yea prob. Chuck got a 12.9. He was able to do that without his gears and street slicks last time he went. I knew it was going to be a bad day especially when Chuck texted me (I was following him to the track) and said "does your out side air temp say 104?" "yea" I said "oh ok, thought mine was broken LOL"

Quick question, did you make the 339whp on the Performance Motorsport dyno? I only say that because even they admit it runs a little high although they have tried to calibrate it many times. I made 338whp with a lot less than what you have posted and an UpRev tune. I hope it wasn't the Performance Motorsport dyno and not trying to bash bro but I wouldn't post their numbers. Alex told me that the important thing isn't the dyno is the delta and the improved driveability.

I don't think that was you on the bimmer forums, whoever it was, clearly you like be a troll and coming off as a fake 370z owner. I know this forum is full of guys who have moved on past the Z and that is there choice but don't go on spreading a bad rep for us Z drivers. I drive a Z that stands out wherever it goes, I've had my fair share of stupid moments with e92 m3's and on two occasions I've come away smiling but that's just me. BMW guys and Z guys are different animals, all my buddies are BMW guys and all of them drive the newer models because of the prestige and flash associated with, however each and every single one of them have admitted its not a drivers car.

Just an update for people who are still curious. Sam has said that they are not working on cracking the VVEL. This is what he said in the stage 2 supercharger press release:

Yup, we might as well get comfy with VVEL I doubt anyone will bother cracking it.

red6spd 10-11-2011 06:30 AM

GTM UpRev, dont care who it is as long as someone does it.

Talked with Uprev today:

Everything we've tested shows there is zero gain with the stock cams. We've already built test software and we have a VVEL engine pulled apart that we're checking clearances on. So we're going to continue to build testing software for it and wait for some manufacturer to bring cams to market.

Jordo! 10-11-2011 03:18 PM

^^^ That is really surprising. There absolutely should be more power hiding in there with the factory cams -- especially on a car with a better flowing intake and exhaust.

That also doesn't help explain why Nismos tend to dyno higher than non-nismos with equivalent mods and tune...

I are confuzed.

Red__Zed 10-11-2011 03:27 PM

Hard to believe, unless there's not much more adjustment available for the factory cams.

The Dimer 10-11-2011 03:33 PM

So a company just needs to come out with aftermarket exhaust cams to tune the vvel on the intake with? What is the stock grind on the exhaust cams?

pulpmelon_Z 10-17-2011 07:21 AM

Is the nissan system limited to timing and lift adjustment on the intake cam only?

If so I cant see the customisation of this system offering much more than a little midrange improvement.

Yes it is only on the intake. The exhaust cams are completely static, with no phasing or lift adjustments.

Tomei was the closest to having something for the vhr, and they gave up back in 09. They said pretty much no gains to be had--the 3.7 is crammed pretty aggressive from the factory.
