Is anyone trying to unlock tuning the VVEL?

tomnavone 06-27-2011 09:33 PM

Yes. Gtm

SPOHN 06-28-2011 06:20 PM

If it does happen I'm not expecting much to justify the cost. Unless GTM sells the rights to Uprev to get a upgrade. But I doubt it.

roplusbee 06-28-2011 11:28 PM

It should make tuning more effective and efficient if they pull it off. The most profit would be made by offering it only to their customers, but I doubt Sam would take that path.

Jordo! 07-20-2011 11:48 PM

Are there any updates on the VVEL tuning? Haven't been on the boards much in the past few months...

Methodical4u 07-20-2011 11:52 PM

I emailed GTM a few days ago, but have heard nothing back yet.

Jordo! 07-20-2011 11:54 PM

Thanks -- let us know if you hear something :tiphat:

That's right, I remember you mentioned that in another thread. Really looking forward to hearing what Sam tells you.

KusoSama 07-20-2011 11:59 PM

I thought GTM utilized Uprev on their 370z kits...

tanamerra 07-21-2011 08:17 AM

In for any updates.

They, but currently the Uprev software cannot alter VVEL tuning.
Sam is using a stand alone system to adjust VVEL right now to see what advantages or disadvantages it has and work backwards from that.

tanamerra 07-21-2011 07:47 PM

Be interesting to see the results positive or otherwise.

omg35s 07-21-2011 10:39 PM

What would be the advantage of cracking VVEL?

Jordo! 07-22-2011 12:02 AM

Check out these links

Technical Specs & Information

Basically, lift, duration, and overlap can all be controlled on our car via tuning.

Methodical4u 07-23-2011 12:11 AM

I have yet to hear from Sam at GTM just to let everyone know. If I don't hear anything from him in another week i'm going to email him again.

/\ why you gotta be such a negative nancy??? :p

roplusbee 07-23-2011 10:00 AM

So........there is some testing going on. At least that is what one can infer from this conversation. I hope that they get it going...........

christian370z 07-23-2011 12:35 PM

GTM is currently working on a VVEL controller that will independently control valve lift, however I'm not sure of an updated status as Sam said that they were still working on it a few months ago and has not given us an update recently.

Jamaica 07-23-2011 12:39 PM

Sam will let us know when it's going to be released. Should be a great product.

Jordo! 07-23-2011 09:42 PM

Staying tuned...

I'd be surprised if this didn't net decent gains both NA and boosted.

red6spd 07-24-2011 09:18 AM

We could really use some more TQ

dnasty370z 07-24-2011 09:49 AM

I hope this is not gonna cost an arm and a leg...

True that.... But if the gains are there people will buy it.

370Z JT 07-24-2011 01:58 PM

Do we know what kind of gains we can expect?

ANMVQ 07-26-2011 09:38 AM

So I'm guessing this would something similar to the Honda's VTEC controller? Not something that will be done on a tune.+1 for need MORE TQ. LOL

Dont think there is any info of gains. Some say the gains wont be that crazy, then I hear from some that it will be like putting aftermarket cams in the car and its going to really wake the Z up.

Methodical4u 08-08-2011 01:54 AM

I never heard back from GTM, I emailed them again and told them that many of us 370z owners are interested in when it might be ready, what power gains might we expect... any info that they could offer basically.

GTM is fully aware already and has talked about VVEL on the forum already a little, but they are still in the R&D phase.
If you want a quick response you need to call GTM and talk to Sam.

well yeah, but I just felt that it would be less bothersome for them to email me back when they got a chance instead of interrupting them... but I may just go ahead and call them.

This doesn't always work, depending on the shop, but given that I know you have personal experience with this shop, I'd tend to agree.
