I want to know if I should get UpRev over Ecutek because the former allows Line Pressure Adjustment directly where as with Ecutek has to have torque management or something

Default I know Ecutek is highly regarded as better than UpRev but...

I will need Line Pressure adjustment because I am Auto and going boosted. I don’t have the funds to import a Level 10 trans down to Australia. Having said that almost all the tuners here only want to use UpRev to tune the Z. Because they can do their own custom adjustments or whatever, where as Ecutek does does not allow as such so easily apparently, even if it is more powerful?

So what are people’s opinions on this? Go with UpRev and ARC or Ecutek?

Maybe contact Sebastian at Specialty Z? He can give you details on Ecutek. And he can do remote tuning with data logging for you as well. My understanding was Ecutek had better customization. But I'm sure there are much more knowledgeable people out there than myself. Sub'd for more info...

I am boosted and have an auto turned with EcuTek by SEB. He adjusted my line pressure and is a noticeable difference.

A boosted Z needs a dyno tune. If you don't have any tuners near you that use Ecutek, you're stuck with Uprev. Ecutek is better, but only if there's a good tuner near you that uses it. If not, use what they recommend.

Also, please do not operate under the assumption that line pressure will be enough to keep the torque from grenenading the transmission. It'll just keep it from happening as quickly. Don't boost in gears 5-6-7.

There are many people on the forum that have been tuned remotely with EcuTek and are boosted most go with Sebastian. I have been daily with my tune for over a year no problems so far. I do have a 19 core Setrab trans cooler and have the fluid changed every 20,000 - 25,000 miles.

Yeah, but you're sc'd, right? Are you at TT torque levels?

Personally, I think it's pretty irresponsible to do a lot of WOT data logging on public streets with a 500whp car. I've done it, but I don't feel great about it. I'd always get a dyno tune for WOT and then do driveability touchups on the street.

How did he adjust line pressure? Ecutek does not allow direct line pressure adjustment like UpRev does.

All the boosted Z tuners I have spoken to in Australia swear by UpRev. I always mention to them that Ecutek is always regarded as the superior option, but they all still seem set on UpRev. So what am I to do, force them to go Ecutek?

And ofcourse I am not assuming line pressure adjustment is going to save my trans. But it is the least I could do for now I guess until I have the money for a LVL10 trans. But currently I will also have a heavy duty trans cooler, upgraded TQ converter, and the FI Billet flex going on.

I already answered that. If you're set on a good local tuner, use what they are comfortable with. As long as they have experience with boosted Z's, then you're good. Ecutek is better, but not so much better that you want to be a guinea pig for someone to learn the software.

My bad, you are correct you already did answer that.

It doesn't? I was under the impression it did or atleast offer better/easier control to line pressure? I am not sure clearly myself lol?

I'm a google research geek, and hate spending a damn dime without fully vesting in a topic. I have an upcoming tune and have talked with a number of tuners in the Orlando, Miami, and Tampa area.
One consensus the large majority agree on is with my 7AT, current stage 1 upgrades and planned GTMC38-81 Rotrex, ECUTek would serve me better than an UpRev Osiris tune. They seem to agree that tuning a MT w/ uprev is more comfortable and better results than ECUTek.
I don't have the knowledge or experience base to say why, but I'm guessing there is something to it... or da guvmnt is up ta sumfin!

What exactly did they say they can do with ecutek that is better for the 7AT than UpRev?

All i was really able to parse out the discussions was references to "customizations" better suited to the 7AT. With the upcoming HFC and CBE incoming, I'll be annoying them again for more info as we get closer. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and guess better fine tuning on the torque pressure, which is what seems to kill 7AT when you shock them ... ?

First was a Miami tuner... forget who
The one I had the most conversation with was Harry at ZFever. Harry was the second one that said ECUTek for 7AT over UpRev, and said it immediately when I asked about tuning having a 7AT.
I also spoke to a "Bob" at Circuit Motorsports, who flat out said he won't do an UpRev on my 7AT - I took that with a bit of skepticism at the time since they are mostly Subaru tuners.
RevWorks (less than a mile from me) was very clear about not even wanting to tune my Z "We do GT-Rs with UpRev and such so ya, no problem with Nissans, but Zs are so finicky" - also a Subaru heavy shop - "We can do ECUTek, but have you tried Harry in Tampa?" (Already spoke to him by this point, but was trying to find closer than 2 hours away) "Your auto really needs someone really good with ECUTek"
Spoke to a few others who weren't adamant, but suggested it - these shops seemed to be more muscle car and truck tuner than Z worthy after convo though

WTF is with the Subaru nuts around here? Seems Z knowledge is only in Miami or Tampa... annoying

Had 3 tuners be very honest with me and say "go elsewhere" nicely - didn't want to do a Z period, and one of them was even a well known Miata tuner

Hmm, having said that it seems I should definitly get Sebastian to eTune my Z rite?

Rather than starting a new thread, I would like opinions on this:

My options are to use Martin from Willall racing to dyno tune my Z (very experienced tuner in other platforms, including some of the fastest GTRs and WRXs in the world) but he has lil experience on the Z platform and Ecutek.

OR

Get Seb to eTune my Z with Ecutek and use all the advanced features, custom maps etc for my Automatic.
