What is the main reason you install a water/meth kit on TT cars. What benefit do you get out of it. How does it aid you in tuning?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but in simple terms, its almost like running higher octane gas. It helps with temps, pre-detonation/knock, and allows you to up the boost or timing to make more power.

Yeap, I already know this. I wanted to hear from Nik to see what he had to say.

My wild *** guess would be that the customer doesn't have access to E85.

I understand that it can have that impact and it adds in cooling but they also use it on e85 systems as well. He tuned a car running e90 which is 114 octane and added meth to it so I'm also curious about the use of meth with e85 as it does not require additional cooling and you can remove a heck of a lot of timing using Ignite 114. I know, I'm tuned on it lol!

Meth + E85 makes no sense to me. E85 is already a higher octane than meth and burns just as cool. I must be missing something.

And that is the million dollar question!

Water meth = Unicorn Tears :rofl2:

In all seriousness, the benefit of adding a water methanol injection systems aids in providing cooler intake charge temperature, increases octane, provides an additional 200 cc of fuel flow (depending on nozzle sizing), and is a great knock suppressant. In regards to how it aids in tuning, if it used with any fuel it will increase the octane rating even with E85 as the tendency for knock to occur is minimized. Consistency in power is another reason, with most fuels, especially on hot days you will notice a drop in power, the water is able to evaporate under the high temperatures in the cylinder and as it evaporates it is able to take the heat away with it. Where we are located a lot of gas stations do no have E85 so going with the 93 and water/meth is a great substitute as we have seen very similar numbers if not more power than E85. Hopefully this is able to answer your initial question. :)
