Default What gets "tuned" in a tune?

Hey guys,

Very new to all of this. I am getting ready to get a CBE and CAI. It has been recommended by many to get a tune after the install. Some would argue otherwise i know.

What exactly gets tuned and how does that increase HP and allow the car to run more smoothly after the mods?

Also, don't these tunes put additional stress and pressure on other components of the car that aren't meant to be "tuned"

Thanks,

Ben

It adjusts AFR, timing, throttle response and the fan tables. That way you have a safer, more responsive, cooler-running car that makes more power.

Basically, when you start doing mods to your engine(intake&exhaust etc.),look at it this way,you are making the engine breath better. It will be seeking more "food".
Most times, the initial findings after mods will show the engine running lean.
Adjustments are made in the tune to change this.
IMO,don't expect any big power surges after a tune from the mods you have listed.
In fact, you may not notice any big differences.
You may want to do a few extra mods before you go to the expense of a tune.
I suggest you consider HFC's or test pipes (if the law allows)before a tune is done.
