i think the ecu is tied into everything that breaths on this car...so may have been a safety protocol put into effect by the ecu because it met the parameters to engage the safety overide...just my thoughts...

A long time ago I said I thought that examples with this excellent 7 spd auto would be showing their stuff at the track. Wait till winter and some good air starts to happen all over the country. Times like these will be common for the auto equiped cars.
Drag radial type rubber will knock .03 sec off that 60' and another .01 off the 1/4 mi. ET. Any car like this one that can run a 12.9/110 mph with a 2 sec 60' will run 12.4 with the right tires.

This makes me proud to own the 7AT 370z! The wife refused the 6spd so I made a compromise and I am real glad I did. I love having the ability to shift or to cruse in auto when traffic sucks.

I will be going to the San Antonio Raceway this Friday, as long as is does not rain. I will be running my buddy's 1997 C5 Corvette 6spd (Mods: Magna Flow, Intake) I have the Takeda Intakes, should be a good race!:driving:

I will post my time slips and maybe a video of the runs.

NIZMOZ 09-23-2009 01:28 PM

^^ tempting......but suppose to be raining. :(

Oh I completely agree I am just not used to such civilized folk since I am typically defending myself in front of the knuckle dragging, mullet sporting, camaro driving crowd :ugh2:

New back rims will be here in 3 months . Spoke with Ryan at Injected and i am about to order Volk T 37 18 x 10.5 rims for the 370z.
He has the proper back spacing for my sports set up.
The tires will be 305/ 35 /18 Mickey Thompson ET Drag Radial 11.
12.6"s here we come. It should improve the 60 ft time to aleast 1.83 or bettter and each wheel and tire will be 6 lbs lighter than the factory 19's that are on the rear of the car. I would be looking at changing the torque convevert to a 3000 stall but nobody has one for sale yet.
A stock GTR run the 1/4 in 11.7. My normally asperated 370 z with bolt ons is getting closer to them all the time. ( ecu flash, pulley, headers, braile battery and tomie cams) for next year.
Not going to beat it but getting closer to there times for a lot less money,
Talking to Sam about his SC set up for next year.
I just got a few pictures of last saturday at the track and will post them this weekend.

Solus 09-25-2009 08:13 AM

I had the clutch stick in second once too :(

Sounds like a good plan what about suspension? With suspension and smaller tires than that a lot of the stang guys are cutting 1.6 or better 60's. How far are you planning to go?

Z eliminator 09-25-2009 09:32 AM

The last mod will be the teckno square reflash to 8100 rpm limiter.
1.6 60 ft times. That would be great.
Every mod for a N/A that i can.
Nice mustang.

Get your suspension dialed in and lose weight that's your two best friends.

I think you're being a little conservative...you will likely run quicker than 12.60s. Given similar track-conditions, dropping more than 0.2-seconds with the Volk/ET Drag setup should be no problem.

hard to say it. it doesnt look like he is having traction issues judging by his 60' times, yes he wipp be able to launch a little harder but I dont see him gaining a whole lot going to stickier tires however I could be wrong he could have big traction issues.

What was the DA when you ran at that track?
what was the temps and all

Z eliminator 09-25-2009 12:28 PM

There was traction problems. I had to lanch at 1000 rpm and floor it or else it would spin the tires. It also spun them in 2nd gear.
765 ft. DA.
If you go back in the post i listed all the temps
air aound 62 to 63
water 185
oil 70 C (156)
Track 100
The hoter the moter gets the slower you go. The 2nd pass was a 12.9.
I reset the air preasure to 29 psig every run.
At the end of the day it ran 13.35 to 13.5 with an oil temp of 110 c.
It spun so hard in 2nd that i had to shift into 3 right away.
The first pass was the best.
I would love to launch at 2500 rpm. If it hooked it would be really quick.
I tried one at 2000 and it just spun the tires.

any info on the gears??? btw that is a great time...the fastest cayman is 12.595 @ 112 but he also has GIAC and 100 octane...so you are not far off

And supposedly an EVOMS intake, Milltek headers and exhaust. The majority of Cayman Ss seem to be in the high-12s with intake, exhaust, and ECU modification...although this is coming from dragtimes.com.

Give it time and I'm confident you'll see many full bolt-on 370Zs running mid-12s at around 115 MPH, 6MT or 7AT. There is no reason why a 330+ WHP car weighing ~3450 lbs. with a driver shouldn't be able to.

tru_Asiatik 09-26-2009 09:43 PM

awesome time!!!
now who is first to hit 12s w/ a 6mt? :)

i wish i can do this but i do not have any local 1/4 mile tracks in my area

370zdub 09-27-2009 02:26 AM

That is awesome, the potential of these cars is just beginning to show. I am curious about the gears too.

noob!! lol jk
but yes RT has nothing to do with 1/4 mile times

example i always give is you can sit at the light all day and still get the same times:tup:

TARDCORE 09-27-2009 11:54 PM

RT only for the guy next to you. And most people you are up against are rarely in the same vehicle class. I know at Qualcom in SD I have been up against R1's and CBR's quite a few times and its no fun to see a bike get literally half of what you are running.

Then stop driving 19-second cars.

:icon18: close enough. Qualcom is a 1/8th mile track so bikes will always win. The cars with really high hp don't get their chance to shine since the race is over in about 6 to 7 seconds for them and 1 -2 seconds is wasted just getting out of the dig. But its all good fun anyway. I saw a lot of hybrids their 2 fridays ago messin around.

IMWEZL 09-28-2009 03:07 AM

wow I have never seen any track let cars and bikes run together.

What's the fastest 6MT time so far? Sorry, I've only been following up on the auto-x threads since we don't have a track here on Oahu.

Still that RT is insane.

My Stillen Sc has line lock and its a Stock 5 AT with a pro torque converter and a stillen VB. It also runs 10 lbs of boost It has 3.53 gears in it.
I missed a shift at 7100 rpm and broke something in #2 cylinder. Lost 40 psig and it dynoed at 303 wrhp.

4.2 GTM running in late 2010. All the parts are here.

Z eliminator 11-14-2009 05:55 AM

Update on the 370z. The rims will be T 37 , 18 x 10.5 . Tires will be MT 305/35/18 drag radials ET 11. The headers got sent out for coating and the NRT crank pulley is awaiting installation. I raised the limiter to 8100 rpm and ajusted the fuel curve with the cobb.
I bumped the timming 2 degrees and it really goes now.
The rims will be here next year.
Now that Sema has passed by and there are no SC for the car i have decided to go NOS.
Will be starting with a 50 shot and hopefulley end up at 100.
I have never used NOS but will work on the project very carefully.
If anybody knows of a kit ,could you please let me know.
11.90 here we come.
I also need a 3000 rpm torque conveter.
Will keep you guys posted.
