Guess they didn't spend that $350K on engine development?

Again $350k for a Contincar is insane and all It will do.. Is kill the series.

Yea, total B.S.

The best part is that 80mm restrictor isn't doing ****. That 80mm is over 3".

3" Pipe
700 cfm = 162 mph = 0.21 mach
800 cfm = 185 mph = 0.24 mach
900 cfm = 208 mph = 0.27 mach

Having tested many LS style motors for intake speed they average around 200mph. Given that is going to be a Pre-Throttle Body flat plate restrictor you can bet that its still flowing 800cfm.

So 800cfm to Lbs/min is give or take 14.5 so 800/14.5 = 55lbs/min or 550hp

So yea... Likely costing them 1-2hp if that..

just saw they retired.

thekinn 01-24-2014 02:14 PM

yeah. rough start for Nissan. #14 retired, #41 looks to have done one lap, #28 in 2nd place at the moment. I presume will need to pit for fuel (like last season..) and will drop down.

edit - not sure if it was for fuel, but #28 still in pits.. so guessing something else happened.

So, The 41 car got caught up in an unfortunate accident that was another teams fault. The 14 car had normal Doran luck and the 28 car, no idea what happened.

Lmao, nope they spent it on donkey shows for the Conti governing body members.

Ugh. IMSA's timing and scoring sucks. They need session alerts back. The twitter feed didn't mention the incidents for 14, 41, or 28. :(

gomer_110 01-24-2014 08:24 PM

My understanding:

#14 had clutch problems
#41 (summarizing the radio transmission I heard) F-ing Porsche driver made contact and ripped the rear wheel off. (atleast that's what I think I heard on the scanner) And race control didn't even throw a caution for it.

#28 Long stop seemed due to bodywork repairs. The rear bumper was partially ripped off before they pitted and then was taped back in place when they came out. Then it must have stopped again because it was MIA for a few laps (at least that's how it seemed) and when it came back out the hood was taped down.

Also the Skullcandy #34 Altima had noticeable contact to the Driver's front causing it to go a number of laps down.

Yea another tough day
BMWs 1-6
Won't know what the deal is on 14 until we get it apart.
Brad was p10 when the issue happened..
Feel bad for the team and the guys in the 41.
John was picking off car smoothly .. Car in front dropped wheels in the kink and John passed him. The Porsche driver kept his foot in it and unfortunately the next turn is a right hander... John turn in and the Porsche smashed into the left rear wheel and B pilar .
This then turned the car and it got into the wall.
Best news John is okay
We test at Sebring in exactly 4 weeks ..

What the hell did BMW get to gain so much speed this year? Also, one of them failed tech.

Dwnshift 01-26-2014 01:53 PM

Nothing ... That had a smaller restrictor at last years Daytona race... It was made bigger after a couple races.

The one that failed tech had their intake system break after the restrictor allowing more air to the motor.
