They are way overbuilt for both series.
The 7 ltr v8 Camaro makes 500 hp and 475hp in stock streetcar trim. As advertised.
Throw in a KN filter and ECU mapping who knows what it makes. The throttle body is 9mm with an 80mm restrictor which is probably about 25-30 hp and still makes 475 ftlbs of torque.
If you see the cars up close and know rules for the series... They were given very thing they asked for and a lot of it is beyond the spirit of the rules for the series .
When cars in this series are allowed to put in racing pedal boxes and dual master cylinder systems , lexan windows, its beyond the intentions of the series.
Again $350k for a Contincar is insane and all It will do.. Is kill the series.

Since when are big racing series fair, sane or not political? Chevy wants to sell more Camaros so they influence regulations. Guess the solution is Drive a Camaro. Or drive a car that strong manufacturers support and influence over sanctioning body. Not first or last time a manufacturer is given preference in a race series. $350K Camaro? ...No thanks. You could build a pretty nice Porsche for that amount. Chevy must want the win to tout the whole new line of track ready cars they are marketing? Too bad you cant counter the Chevies with a well developed GTR.

I agree, so many big manufacturers have bent and twisted the spirit of the rules and made "homologation specials" over the years just to make a given race's requirements it just seems moot to make an issue over it. Simple solution is boost the minimum production figures up from the 500, which many big manufacturers could easily eat if the sales don't match, to a few thousand.

Good luck BJ/Doran! I always look forward to watching you guys race.

With the bankroll of the Camaro teams, seems they would fit into a Tudor class instead of CSCC. I was going to look it up .. with the changes my old memory is lost as to what is in Tudor now... and their website doesn't have an easy place to see all the classes, differences, etc..

Just do us a favor and pass those chumps - :)

Lexan is not street legal so no. Even in road racing it is something that is usually reserved for modified/unlimited type classes. It is a definite bunch of BS. And the funny part is that it is still a Camaro lol. Maybe they can hire Beavis and Butthead as their drivers next season.

Or yell at Nissan Motorsports USA. They are next to useless.

at first glance in the practices.. maybe it is the M3's you need to worry about. :icon17: 5 out of top 6 lap times.

BMWs are very strong at Daytona ... Since last years running here they were given a restrictor break... And their 6th gear is reeeeeeeeally good.
The Z28s (3) blew engines yesterday Nd today was there first time out really for them.
Quali was a mess and 3 cara got one green lap before the red flag came out.
When quali resumed everyone got 1 lap.
Brad had a good lap but had to avoid a spinning Aston Martin in turn one
The 41 car got dinged for pit road speeding penalty and will start from the back.
