Also, if you do it yourself, this was the most important non-obvious trick, during the "hard" part:
Get a roll of string, and cut some several-foot-long sections from it. Tie a nut to one end of each string (for weight, makes it easier to not lose the strings), and then tie the other end to the ends of the hoses and tape over the tied string with Gorilla Tape or something. Then you can drop the hoses into the tank out of the way, push the unit through, and then fetch the hoses again with the strings. http://www.the370z.com/members/wstar...-part-step.jpg |

I'd like to do myself but my garage is I'll equipped... All I have is a metric tool set, ramps, and some hex keys.

I did mine myself. :D
Some tips on doing the install. 1. Give yourself some time to do this install. It's not hard to do. 2. Remove the seats. Make it SO MUCH EASIER to move around. 3. Make sure the gas tank is empty. If there is some gas in there when you park the Z for the install. When you remove the stock pump. You can pump out the rest of the gas into a gas can. I used a hand pump. 4. Get a small camera. Take some pictures of inside the gas tank. This will give you an idea of what the inside of the tank looks like and what you are dealing with. 5. Like wstar said. Use stings tied and taped to the end of the hoses. 6. MAKE SURE YOU MARK THE END OF THE HOSES REALLY GOOD! With something that won't wipe off! The last thing you want to do is to mix up the hoses. 7. The hard part of the install is getting the stock fuel pump back in the tank and hooking up the hoses in the right locations. http://www.the370z.com/track-autocro...p-install.html |
Ill be installing it myself. I hate paying someone to do something that I feel like I can lol.

Of these six, I need to hold on to 4 for a while. That means I probably have 2 that I can let go of! |
I'm all for easier install LOL, will be installing myself... sadly I got bear hands rofl

One was just scooped up. That leaves us with 1 available for now.

Probably will do it myself just for Bragging rights. I did my stainless brake lines and CAI and a few other bits so I'm feeling bold! I'll pull the seats so I can get it done more easily! My only worry is that I don't have a fuel fume leak in the cabin when I am done.
Its winter here so I don't mind losing the Z for awhile while I get this done. |

Will be the GTR tech at the local dealership. The nice thing is they are doing it at a heavy discount. They think it's completely unacceptable that the car has this issue in the first place.

I apologize to everyone I haven't posted updated pics the last week. I have been moving my office and all the inventory and etc to the second location where the new CNC is going. My communication has been slow this week. By Monday or Tuesday I will be all back to normal!

Thanks ;) I don't use any other vendors as my standards for customer service and communication... Just driven by my conscious and sense of responsibility/duty to the commitments I make!

Final stretch here! Sorry guys. I dumped 275 parts on them just before thanksgiving, I think I overwhelmed them!
I just wanted to post and let everyone know we are still moving. We are just waiting on the metal finisher and anodizer. They are glass bead blasting everything and anodizing, etc. I don't generally bring them so many parts at once. I have also started giving them the parts in a less finished state to save myself time, but increasing their work. So how many of you guys are anxious for this to finally be over, and how many of you are thinking this is terrible timing with all the Christmas expenses going on? |
Dead broke lollll!!! Sema did it !!
|
Q: So how many of you guys are anxious for this to finally be over, and how many of you are thinking this is terrible timing with all the Christmas expenses going on?
A: Both. But that's just how it goes sometimes. Then the install! |
Hadn't planned on getting anything before about February so anything before that will be a pleasant surprise. :)
|
I'm excited, more so if I had the rest of the money on hand. I'm working OT at work and selling a couple PCs and monitors (one monitor sold...). My Wife of all people wants this in my car. I guess she didn't like being stranded at the gym.

thanksgiving sales just past... christmas sales coming soon plus cjm fuel starvation control.. omfg someone shoot me 3 and a half times please... im excited and bummed in the same time lol

Unbelievable! That's fantastic Charles. I truelly wish I didn't have ants in the pants and buy your twin pump setup thinking I would actually have my car finished before this new fuel product rolled out. You will most likely be working on the second phase of these before I get my car back
|
this is the second phase! first batch was sold in 2012!
|
Well from what I was told, the parts have finished their surface prepping which was a rather extended journey. They were relocated to the building where they anodize on Thursday. I am under the impression that I can pick these up around Wednesday.
That will be perfect timing for me! My new CNC came in on Monday and I have been working on the 3 phase wiring, air lines, and basic assembly. Tuesday they are coming to activate it. My Z is finally in hibernation at the shop for the winter. So we can do all the final test fitting for the s2 fuel systems and intake manifold prototyping. I was going to wrap up my oil pump product before the intake manifold.. But I am currently just really sucked into the manifold project and I think I can get the production lined up quickly since it will be manufactured 100% in the USA. Ahh everything is falling together for this winter and it feels good. It will be a weight off my shoulders to start shipping these road race pumps to my extremely patient crowd. |

Super interested on manifold and oil pump product. Can't wait!

I'd love to see a more robust alternative to the nismo oil pump combined with a good baffled oil pan so I could safely up the rev limiter to 8K and not be on borrowed time. |
I have an oil pump project in the works. I have all the parts and materials here but I haven't had the chance to sort out the layout to the finished details. This project is competing with a few others for my attention right now. The next week or two will still be consumed with the new CNC mostly, and then I will be ready to start really cranking on my engine build.
If my oil pump goes as planned, it would be something i can show off near spring time. I must say that if it comes to be available, it might disappoint some with how intense the conversion will be. At this point, I believe we are looking at permanent modification to the crankshaft, requiring it to be removed from the engine. But I do believe it will be easy to trust and will eliminate all concerns. |
Do you believe that the stock VVEL heads will handle the increased RPM that you're planning with Oil pump??
Im very interested in intake manifold count me in from now. |
That is a question that I share. I don't know of anyone who has really pushed the VVEL system. A parallel question is; do we think there is an engine management option that is both capable of operating the VVEL system while giving us the injection and ignition control features we need to join the high power ranks? I am very close to committing to the switch for HR heads due to both of these questions. I seek a 8000-8500 redline, and that is what I am constructing my oil pump and intake manifold around.
|
I have some info for you about VVEL heads. let me know when you're in the office man.
Need to talk about fuel system too. |
