normal when I autocross, once I shift to 2nd I do not shift anymore,
and just run it as hard as i can....

watched the video, I have not autocross with an auto, so it is a bit different.
the course that you ran, looks as if I might run out of 2nd gear on, not sure.
I know I have run 2nd gear to the very max of the rev range, not for long....

just go out and play some more and try different things. Also ask someone if you can ride with them...

When I autocross I brake with my left foot. enjoy, as long as your times were coming down, that is always a good sign...

A few things:

First it seems like you're coasting too much. As someone once told me "if you're not braking you should be accelerating". Obviously there's times where you have to modulate the gas but the previous statement still more or less hold true.

Second, walk the course more. Ideally you should have the course memorized before you make your first run. Also if there's a novice walk make sure you go on it.

Last but not least keep at it. Every run you make is more experience with your Z in an AutoX environment.

I am not sure where you were, but THAT IS A FREAKING AWESOME LOT. It is like a mini track day, not a crappy little parking lot.

Also I am not sure if you notice, but I saw you going off course on the first straight at the start of the video.

I was told that was the best way to start out on those. Yea I knew went off course at the beginning my first two times. I had walked the track and for some reason I had implanted into my mind that the course wasn't set up that way. I think they may have changed the course because something was said about a change but I didn't really realize what was going on. The course is the FIRM facility in starke florida. It is an amazing facility. For my first time I was really focusing on just staying on course and learning the ropes of autocross, not really pushing it. My next event is tomorrow, track isn't as cool (airstrip course), but I looked at it today and it looks really fast (perfect for our Z's). I am really excited and plan on pushing a bit more this time. I will post a video of that tomorrow if I have time or Monday if I have too. Thanks again for the help guys.
Don't worry about pushing too hard and spinning. Everyone does it at some point.

By the way OP, what class are you running in?

Nice work OP. I have my first autox in my 370 this month and I am excited. Don't worry about spinning out just don't do like I did in my 350z and take out the timing box. Then everyone will be mad.
