Has everyone made what should be a semi annual request to have the 370z moved from str to stu? If not, here is the link where you can do so and and a sample letter for you to either copy or use as a template.

Hello,

Writing to suggest the move of the 370Z to STU. I feel that it fits the spirit of this class much better than STR. Compared to the C5 Corvette, it is very similar in weight, power & size.

C5 FRC - 3173 lbs, 350hp, 73.6"wide
370Z - 3232 lbs, 332 hp, 72.8"wide

Both cars can fit the maximum alloted wheels, and like the 350Z, the 370Z is a very popular car, easy to work on, reliable, and fun to drive. 255s on a 9" wheel are much smaller than factory sizes, and I predict much better participation in ST if it were classed with wider wheels/tires. Since it was bumped to BS, many owners have looked to make the move to ST, but have been turned off by the wheel & tire limitations of STR. STU would present a much more desirable option for the car.

Thank you.

Should also include:

Agreed. I tweaked that in my letter. The mild differences of the nismo shouldn't bar it from stu.

Submitted - I would definitely consider modifying my car to step down to STU if they opened up the 370 to that class. Everyone put in a request!!

You're not the only one (Of course they'd have to make it 370z-all). Of course a lot would depend on what happens with street prepared. If SP rule changes allow sphericals I think I'd just stay in SP.

Making the sport model z drop to smaller than stock width wheels is a turn off to a lot of people that would otherwise compete, and the nismo may as well be barred from competition with how it gets classed. I really hope it gets pushed through, and I hope it will if we remain persistent.

Looking for some advice, I just got into autox this year and have had a blast. I'm not out to win a particular class, just to be as fast as I can be on street tires (not ready to have dedicated track wheels or a trailer yet). I want to try the re71Rs, after several events I feel my tires are now my weakest link (hankook v12s). With new sizes for 19s coming out in a few months I want to get a 19" rim and get a 275/305 set up. Now to my question, I currently have 20" rims and I think I'm going to buy the older Nismo rims, should i get staggered as they come, or try and go square? I'm not worried about classes so I want to get as much grip as I can fit.

If you want to run stock class buy an old set of ray's for 500 and throw 275 square on it, you can't rotate the wheels but it handles well, I have a set of those and 18" forgestars whenever I decide if I'm keeping the car I'm going down to the 18's.
If you're running asp you can get more tire under the car, 285 or 295 and 305 rear, I just feel more tire then that is unnecessary unless you're running Hoosiers, the cost jumps up for those though

Ive got swift springs so Im not in stock class, just curious if I would benefit more with a square set up vs staggered.

This doesn't compute

You'll love the RE71. You'll gain 1-2 seconds on a 50-60 second course without even realizing it. I'd go square or close to it. I don't think you'll benefit from adding too much extra rubber in the rear since the car tends to understeer (especially at autox speeds).

What widths/offsets do you plan to get? If you get the stock nismo wheels I'd go 275 or 285 square on the tires. Or 275 fr 285 rear.

I just meant I don't care if a particular mod bumps me up a class as long as it makes me faster, of course I'm trying to win

I think a lot of us thought like this at one point. The cool thing about autocross is that there is room for builders and drivers to both have fun.

That being said most people enjoy the sport much more when they have a car that is classed favorably.
